Went to Half-Price Books to stock up for the coming trip to Door County. Here's what I got:  

• I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
  
• The Seven Per Cent Solution by Nicholas Mayer (and Dr. John H. Watson, if they kayfabe on the cover is any indication)
  
• Too Much and Never Enough by Mary L. Trump
  
• Foucault in California by Simeon Wade (The story of how Foucault had a life-changing experience on LSD at Death Valley)
  
• Of Human Bondage by W. Somerset Maugham
  
• Robocop (the original film, director's cut, Blu-Ray)
  

Sadly, I can't bring the Robocop up, since I only have a portable DVD player and I'll have to leave the Blu-Ray down in Illinois for the next two weeks. The books, however, are in roughly the order I intend to read them (plus a few more that were already in the queue.) Also, I have a biography of Aimee Semple McPherson coming in the mail and I hope it comes up before we go up on Saturday.

Gentlemen, Behold! 

After much measurement and many failed attempts at getting the holes in the acrylic “fretboard” to line up properly, I have finally completed The Guilded Splinter. 



The empty string packs to the right are gauges, the tuning is Open D, and it sounds good. The only things we need to do are install screws that actually go to the bottom (the ones we bought have a flared end that cause them to stand proud of the “fretboard.”)

Must have slept through a pretty good storm. Just had to put the chairs back on the deck from their new spots in the yard, gather up the pool floats that had blown around the yard, and hang the flower pot back up that took a tumble onto the deck. I missed that one completely...it appears the wind was blowing pretty good.

Spent yesterday (sunday) at work with a patient who had a very bad turn, and today she required emergency surgery.

Just got home about an hour ago.

Need sleep.

Went for a walk with my little Pokemon partner, Colby. It's a muggy cloudy day; been raining for a few days off and on, so, it's wet and threatening to rain some more. We found a tiny frog in the grass and he had a blast jumping after that before I saw it hop off into the woods. Then, we saw a bigger frog, almost as big as my fist, sleek, light green stripes and dark brown spots as you like, right in the middle of the driveway. I pointed him out to Colby and he gave chase. It was of course quicker, causing my dog to slip in the grass, rolling accidentally onto his back. By the time he wiggled upright again, of course, the big frog had disappeared into the tall weeds. A fun day of adventure.

Having a glass of Ardbeg. My homemaker rescheduled for tomorrow. He wanted to do that last week, too, but I canceled then. It's odd.

Just got out of the pool....now a shower, find something to eat, then working on my new project of making curtains.

Did have to scoop a couple frogs out of the pool...wasn't in the mood for company.

Just put my new chicks outside, getting everything ready to seed 20acres of red clover by sunrise tomorrow.


- tried five or six breeds, all hatchery quality, settled on barred rocks and bought some show birds.
