What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
The cloths washer crapped out yesterday, wouldn't spin. Ran off to Lowe's and bought a new one and they delivered and installed in one day (today, on a holiday, no extra charge, that's makes the wife's laundry OCD very happy).

Got me to thinking, does anyone call a large appliance repairman any more? I remember them as a kid (especially the Maytag Man). They must have gone with the dino's.

I called out a repairman last year after pulling my dishwasher out because it wasn't pumping water. Cleaned the pump, the discharge line was clear, etc. I explained what I did, and he took the air brake cap and a diverter inside of it out, ran the dishwasher for a brief few seconds. Some guck came out, and that was it. Not even very much guck. Thing is, I had that hose out from under the sink, and everything. I was embarrassed that it was that easy. I replaced the clothes washer a couple of years ago. It was a front-loader Maytag, and the bearings were going. I could have spent $160 for the bearing tool rental and the bearings and seals, but after watching the video, I opted to buy a new washer. My hands hadn't really finished healing from carpal tunnel release surgery, so I punted it. It was about 13 years old.

Now that I think about it we did have a guy come out and service the clothes dryer about 2 years ago. Took him 1hr and charged $300. Not doing that again.

A few years ago the heating element went out on our dryer. We ordered a new one and husband installed it. Everything was great till the whole damn dryer crapped out about 4 months later. Should have just bought a new dryer to begin with.

Given the age of that clothes washer, I had to weigh that against the relatively "simple" repair, which would probably have taken me all day, with no place but the driveway to do it. Not happening.

Woke up and not feeling tired. Guess I'll stay up and play more of ME; I started over from the beginning.

Having a tall glass of Macallan Double Cask. I finished donating plasma two hours later than usual tonight. I was tempted to pee in the bushes on the way home just so I wouldn't have to hold it another 20 minutes. I think my patience had run out at some point earlier in the evening.

Just got home from getting my flu shot. Now I look forward to being sort of sore and miserable for a couple days. Since my mastectomies and the removal of a couple of lymph nodes, any injection in the arm is painful as the vaccine tries to dissipate when there is no tissue on my chest. I didn't have that issue before the surgery. I've been asked in the past which side I want the shot in because that can be an issue with mastectomy patients...unfortunately I had both removed so it's a pain no matter which arm.

With the shot and masks, I should be able to avoid the flu though.
