What's everyone up to right now?

Sneezing and coughing like I have been doing all day. No COVID for me but a miserable cold instead. I'm not too happy with how the end of this year is turning out; especially since I don't think next year will be better...BLAH!

Just finished reading Joe vs. Elan School. Honestly, this managed to break me more than anything I've read or seen in years, except maybe that one episode of Manhunt: Unabomber. As Spalding Gray said "who needs metaphors for Hell, poetry about Hell? This actually happened here on this Earth." Somehow, Joe Nobody has managed to make Maine even more terrifying than Steven King ever did.
At least we've got this panel to look at: ![]() (I seriously considered posting this in the gay thread to rebut Huggy Bear's "Oppression Olympics" style of debating. I decided against it for multiple reasons, from the possibility that he might use the last part to validate his homophobia, to the fact that, well, the optics of using the word "Boy" with Huggy Bear are a hell of a lot worse than Casey Jones using them with the [apparently] white Joe Nobody.) I'm not sure when or even if I'd ever come back to this webcomic, (especially since these aren't updated on a consistent schedule) but I hope to Hell the muscle car blocking Joe's way in the last panel isn't taking him back to Elan. I know he somehow managed to graduate a couple chapters ago (something only 1 in 7 Elan inmates managed to do), but they're just that fucked up that I won't put it past them. Here’s hoping Three Kings cleanses my palate effectively.

Went and saw band #1 in the afternoon that poached a guitarist from band #2 after the guitarist from band #1 ceased to be. Then went and saw band #2 who seem to be gellin' like Magellan with their new guitarist.

Starting a pot roast in the slow cooker. Always new things. First time using a tri-tip roast and first time using a slow cooker liner. Now I'm hungry.

Another jigsaw puzzle, #4 since x-mas day. We may have developed an minor obsession.

Well, Dad made the Mrs. Lovett meat pies. He used this recipe as a base though he used chicken thighs and veal as meat, replaced the onion with mushrooms, and added some butter to compensate for veal’s leanness, and instead of splitting it into five individual pies, he spear
![]() My verdict: the meat was more than a little crumbly, and I think we should have probably leaned less on the vegetables (Dad has the exact opposite opinion, but then again, he’s not the one who finds cooking vegetables that aren’t potatoes fundamentally unsound). Other than that, it was good, even if somehow, the flour ended up the dominant flavor. Dad asked if it tasted like priest, but I resisted the urge to tell him: actually, it tastes like this cult leader whose boarding school has lived in my head rent-free for the past couple days.
