Hoping the power stays on. We've had freezing rain for hours and it's supposed to last at least another 6 hours. The oak tree out back is laying on the roof over the deck and the mesquite tree is broken in half. I haven't looked at the front yard but assume it to be in similar condition.

All stocked up and don't have to go anywhere. Husband was out assessing the damage to the trees and said that our cars are completely iced over.

I suppose if people won't stay home on their own the universe is just going to freeze/snow us in.

Emptied out the downstairs freezer to defrost it. Filled an entire wheelie bin with food that had been there for years. Only three coolers worth of food was salvageable. Fortunately, we did this during the bleak midwinter, so it’s less likely that any of it’s going to melt. Or that the coolers I stashed in the garage will go bad.
