What's everyone up to right now?

I had planned to update the firmware on 4 disks today, which requires setting up a separate machine, as it can't be done on this one. My ambition is waning somewhat, though.

Watching baseball. It appears that a poltergeist has taken up residence in one of the new WD Blue hard disks that I bought in March.

Chilling. Went to breakfast with older daughter and then hung out here and BSed a while. Son just stopped by - it's like a rare sighting of a unicorn as he leaves the house about as much as I do not counting work.

Husband went upstairs to watch TV so I don't have to endure car shows and/or auto racing.

I pulled the heatsinks for the motherboard mounted M.2 SSDs. Trying to figure out why one is running warm. The thermal pad on the one closest to the CPU is not making great contact. I'm thinking that I might just replace it with an aftermarket heatsink attached directly to the SSD. I'm guessing that's the one that's running warm, but it's hard to tell since they're in a RAID 0 array so I can't pull one without losing the entire 2 TB file store. It's got my games on it. I suppose that I can image it and then pull one of the drives, but I'm just sure it's the top one.

Lexy has something painful going on with her left front. Today is day 4, off to the vet in a half hour for eval and x-rays.

Just spent $300 on a 1000-watt power supply. It's more than I need, but it was the same cost as the 850-watt unit I had planned. This will work for my main power supply for the next 10-15 years.

It's looking like my.80 year old cancer survivo mother might have COVID.  Sonofabitch.

Sure hope all goes well.  Seems like we are never going to reach the end of the COVID threat.  sigh

Hope all's okay.  Zig comes up lame now and then but seems to get over it after a couple days, thankfully.  It's sort of hard to hurt yourself when you spend most of the day asleep, but somehow he manages to.  I think it's on the days he forgets and takes off after a squirrel like he did when he was a puppy.

Thanks. Shes back now and x-rays indicate what appears to be a detached bone/cartilage chip in the shoulder. Off to the local ortho surgeon tomorrow for conformation. If confirmed then she will need surgery.

Thankfully we have insurance.

Oh gosh...probably like you, I went from kids' injuries and ailments to the furkids' injuries and ailments.

Hope all turns out okay.  Even for a simple dental procedure I worry myself to a frazzle with the pups.
