What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
I am sitting inside after my plans to sit outside on my balcony for the first time in years were ruined. I've been out and bought a nice little chair and everything. I was just cleaning up out there sweeping and clearing away twigs and stuff when I saw a bee on the wall next to my balcony. It looked peaceful enough so I thought I'd keep an eye on it just in case it took off and came toward me (it's the buzzing, I freak!). Well, after a few minutes a wasp came flying toward the Bee and attacked it. The Bee then started flying in my direction to get away from it so I bloody screamed and ran inside and closed the door. Then I look out and the Bee is nowhere to be seen (yay, he escaped!) but the wasp is repeatedly flying at into the glass door like it's trying to get at ME! Fuck that. I'm staying inside where the psychopathic wasp can't get me.

Only, now as I write this I'm wondering if the Bee is in here somewhere and that's why the wasp was trying to get in. I don't think so. I'd have heard it or seen it, right?

Fuck wasps, man. Why don't we just wipe them out? Wasps and pigeons... There has to be a way to make them extinct. Is there such a thing as a wasp trap/killer that's safe for bees? I kinda like bees (when they're not near me)

I already have Dawkins' The God Delusion here with me, and I am going to do an internet search for any others that I might like to read. I am not normally a fan of non-fiction, but I figured it is about time I read some of these books other atheists have read.

Wow, you're lucky they have those books in paperback. My local library has only a couple physical copies of books on atheism.

I had to order my copies. God is Not Great was very delightful, and it aided me in realizing that I'm an atheist.

So, one of the publishing houses, one that says it takes two to three weeks to read manuscripts, just got back to me four days after I submitted mine, asking me what sort of editing job I'd be willing to do on my piece. This strikes me as something of a big deal. Is that a big deal, everyone? Thinking

And of course, nobody is around to share this with, either. Good job, Luckie. Tongue

It's getting cold again (by Alabama standards) so the kitty is sitting in my lap.

I'm watching the strangest movie called Dark House. The main character has the ability to see how people are going to die, which I thought meant I would like the movie. But there's also a weird-ass cult, an indestructible house, an ax-murdering redneck, and his ax-murdering minions. Who all have messy, dirty dreads or something. Seriously, what the fuck? And why am I still watching it?

Maybe they're just fucking around with you.

What I mean by that is to offer a tentative congrats on getting to step 2 in the process of becoming a rich writer.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I know nothing of publishing, but if they're wanting to talk to you about anything (rather than hitting the reject button and sending you the form letter) I think that's a good sign. Smile

EDIT: And it's a big deal. Big Grin

I saw the most horrible clip the other week about how Sea World captured Orcas in the Puget Sound back in the 1970s. The clip was only like 6 minutes long but I couldn't have taken more than that. (This coming from a person who watched 30 seconds of a documentary on Polar Bears, started crying and had to change the channel.)
