Last minute shit to get ready to bug out til next summer.
The bullshit required to get prescriptions filled for a lengthy trip abroad is something else. At a minimum, if everything goes well, it requires multiple phone calls to each doctor, pharmacy, and insurance and a minimum of three trips to the pharmacy. They (insurance) literally will only allow us to fill 90 days each trip to the pharmacy. It's a huge time suck and for some reason, insurance will not even entertain starting the process more than 5 business days before departure. It's even a bigger pain in the ass than it sounds like because we have to deal with the insurer's specialty pharmacy for one rx.

I can sort of understand the reluctance to fill certain prescriptions in large quantities, but I don't understand who they think I am going to sell my heart meds to on the black market. It's been a while since I have traveled but I know it can be a royal pain in the ass.
My cardiologist is used to me not wanting to come in so he prescribes out for year, though I have to pick it up in 90 day supplies. I get that he needs to see me to justify keeping me on the meds.
Regular doc just gets a little pushy about a visit if I haven't been there in 6 months. I guess that makes some sense too. But some people travel for extended periods of time and it just shouldn't be that hard to accomodate especially if it's something you have a history of taking.

Can you get a doctor down there to write scripts for the same meds? Pretty sure that they would be cheaper but maybe not available or that you need the insurance coverage for the cost.

We are each on some meds that are on copay assistance programs, the out of pocket cost is negligible. We've also exceeded our max out of pocket for the year so right now our OOP is zero.
My wife's quarterly injection is so fucking expensive (~4000 USD,) that it is cheaper for her to fly first class to the US just to get it and have it covered by insurance. That's what she's been doing - she flies coach, though.
My stuff is NBD, I have been paying out of pocket when I run out. Costco has my anticoagulant and reflux meds, I don't even need an Rx, and it's under 120 USD equivalent. It's not any great amount of money, but fuck Anthem and their Byzantine process. They're gonna pay for it.

Waiting to see if we get the storm they are predicting. It's already moved a few hours later and ending sooner, according to the forecasters.
We really, really need rain but don't need wind and hail and pounding rain that the baked ground can't absorb.

That crack either means we or a near neighbor lost something big in that lightning strike. Holy moly. And it's raining and blowing so hard that it's coming in under the back door. How nice. That tile gets nice and slippery when wet. We don't need to be breaking a hip.

The fuck is taking the Deep State? I was promised that if I kept my phone on today and got my COVID jabs, I was going to turn into a 5G Ebola zombie. But it’s almost 10 PM and nothing’s happened, and the only time I turned my phone off was when I tried and failed to screencap PG’s Rig Rundown of American Football.

Hmmm, where are you and can you get it prescribed and filled locally for less? I knew someone who went overseas for an extended period. They were able to pay less for uninsured doctor’s visit and full out of pocket for the same prescription there, than their copay here.
