What's everyone up to right now?

Looking at recipes for brisket and cabbage.  You can't trust what you read.  The first recipe just said potatoes, but not what kind.  The second said to cook on high in a slow cooker for 7 hours.  A surefire recipe for disaster.

Seven hours? On HIGH?? Fine, if you’re cooking a tire. I do mine at 40 minutes per pound on low.

I like white potatoes for this, but I imagine any variety will work.
