Playing some Ori and the Will of the Whisps. Or trying to; my cat's super needy this time of night.

Went to see Lang Lang play the Disney songbook at Ravinia (our first Ravinia show in over a month). It was great, although one highlight I wished I could post: during "Colours of the Wind," some woman in a pimped-out dress that wouldn't look out of place on one of the princesses started dancing and spinning around. I thought I took a video of her, but it turned out that I only started filming when I intended to press stop.

Finally tested to see which of the three white shirts we bought last week fit the best. Turns out that the George Strait one wins, although the neck is a bit tight.
Also, I found out that my Dad’s love for Eddie and the Cruisers has evidently reached a point where, when I listen to an actual Bruce Springsteen concert, he’s asking about music that sounds like Eddie and the Cruisers.

Coffee, pills, and playing around with knife sharpening. I bought a $10 rolling sharpener during Prime Days. The knife post-sharpening wasn't much improved, but then hand sharpening on my diamond stone was only a slight improvement on that. This knife has never been particularly sharp, even when new, so my expectation of improvement might be unrealistic. I note that in hand sharpening, I have a strong tendency to let the trailing edge, the non-cutting edge, dip or drop when I make a pass. I've got a lot of work to go in learning to hand sharpen. The only real issue so far is the case that my diamond stone came in. When you open it and lay it down, the top half doesn't lay flat, so it gets in the way. I tried putting it on the edge of the table, but then I'm moving crosswise instead of back and forth. I'll have to figure something out. Maybe put something under the case so the top half can hang over the edge. If I can figure out how to remove the top, that is probably best. It looks like the pin for the hinge is designed so that it can be easily removed, I just wasn't sure that I wanted to take that step this morning.
My blood pressure is high this morning -- 135/89. At least I bothered to take it. I'm supposed to be tracking my blood pressure while I'm in recovery. But I'm lazy, and the arm cuff is a bit inconvenient. ![]() RE: What's everyone up to right now?

I ordered an oil dispenser in yellow off Ebay, planning to order a white one once that I'd confirmed the dispensers were acceptable. They ran out of stock on white the evening I received the yellow one and before I could finish my assessment. Fortunately they have a pair in green and white that has a 20% off coupon, which makes them $13.49 for the pair. I suppose I can put EVOO in the green one, though since I rarely cook with EVOO, there's not much point. All told, I spent a good bit more than I needed, but the plus side is that they will make a very nice set.

Done some packing for the trip up tomorrow. Also got to see the Morgan Freeman symphonic blues experience. Surprisingly, Freeman himself actually showed up for the beginning (I was expecting just some voice over).
![]() I didn’t know too much about it coming in, but, basically, it involves a decent-sized band playing some standards and an orchestra backing them up, and Morgan Freeman’s velvety voiceover doing some narration in between. Here’s the set list: ![]() This is the first time I ever did a Ravinia concert the night before we went on a trip, although, of course, since this trip is for Grandpa’s funeral, we didn’t plan it like this.

I just got back from a 2.5 mile hike with my cousin. Now to work on my art and play some Ori.
