Well, that disappeared fast.  They had a 16 GB Crucial DDR5 kit for under $150.  A few hours later, gone.  I guess I'll plan on $200.

If you haven't heard, DRAM prices are going to be high for at least 1-2 years (Realistically I think it's closer to forever).

My Ship-of-Theseus NAS has a 12 year old motherboard that I'd like to replace before it eventually dies (I also hate throwing out a working Xeon motherboard/ram/cpu, even though it probably uses enough electricity to justify the replacement cost.  I think i just talked myself into it.

Yeah, I knew that. Fortunately, I won't need any SSDs. I've got a 32GB RAM kit picked out. At $350 it's not cheap, but it is what it is. I've seen old Crucial stock pop-up on Amazon a couple times. I'll watch and see if that happens again.

My Supermicro X9's are 13 years old. I've got three. I just grabbed 16 GB more RAM at a good price. I'd have to pull the sticks but I believe the seller shipped 2x4 and 2x8. So I got some free RAM in that order. $32 total.

The other hitch is that I don't have an ATX 3.x PSU for the RTX 5070 that I've got picked out. So either an adapter or a new PSU. Fortunately the 5070 uses a miserly 250 watts. I can delay that decision until I order the GPU.

Checking the details on a hard disk cage I bought for my PC. Unfortunately, there are two obstacles. Something is preventing it from sliding into the case, and the feeds for my water cooler radiator run through the same space. Well, that's $50 more toward the new PC.

I spent $30 on a pair of JBL Tune 520BT headphones. They're perfect. Only 5.5 ounces and the cups and band are fairly large, so they settle and don't need fiddling to keep them in place.

Hot and cold tea. I just got in from running errands. It's in the low teens, which was fine. They're expecting strong winds tonight. I mostly avoided that.

Day 3 with no power, problem is inside the house, electrician coming tomorrow. I think we had an overload, the breakers are 20A and I strongly doubt the wiring in the house can handle 20 amps. I'm expecting to have to rewire all the 110v runs, thankfully everything is in conduit.
