I am near Frankfurt, but will be the same temperature. Good news is: Saturday will already be a bit more mild, some 30+ only.
Please tell me your aren't going to do the standard Munich tourist crap. Please tell me you don't think Munich = Germany. It's effing Bavaria. We do not wear Lederhosen!

Seriously considering diverting north - after Switzerland. Poland? Norway?

The Highlands are lovely. They’d be even more so if it wasn’t for that distracting bagpipe noise that breaks out with no warning.

30 is not so hot unless it is also very humid - we live in the tropics. We have a few days to decide but we're leaning towards discarding the current agenda after St Moritz and wing it.

Bavaria was at my wife's insistence. Berlin and Frankfurt are our other planned stops, in a few weeks.
I have no idea what standard tourists do, I like museums, architecture and history.

Haha, no. It's a brief overnight stop that happens to be at the end of a tourist train my wife really wants to do, I am not rich.
I plan to beg in the streets to afford my dinner.

Frankfurt:
- Senkenberg Museum (Dinos)
- Redlight district, right outside of the train station (warning, can be...disturbing in some places, while not being dangerous). Not everybodys taste.
- Cathedral: German kings, and later emperors, were elected there for some 350 years
- St. Pauls Church: Seat of first german parliament during the (failed) 1848 revolution
- 1hr south of Frankfurt, by train: Heidelberg
- West of Frankfurt, between Bingen and Koblenz: World heritage Middle Rhine Valley, paved with medieval castles restored (mostly by prussian nobility) in the 19th century according to very romanticizing ideas. Basically german fairy tale castle disneyland.
- At Bingen: Niederwalddenkmal (Niederwald-memorial). Gigantic memorial dedicated to the Franco-Prussian War 1870/71, with Germania towering and facing west, towards......France
- West of Frankfurt: Mainz. Cathedral of the Salian dynasty (relatives and ancestors entombed). 17th century fort and roman remains (Mainz was founded by Romans)
