What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
DUDE! What SC said! Get on it, yo!

What am I up to?! Chowin' down hardcore on a turkey burger with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, mustard, and cranberry.

Endorphin overload from a walk to get to Cali "O" Burgers. Guess I'll lay off the jellybeans for the remainder of the night.

Resting and recovering.

WHAT A FUCKING AWESOME DAY!!!!

Looking at me there's no way you'd guess we got chased off the mountain by the weather. I got cooked medium rare. Just enough sunburn to feel warm without itching or pain. It's like the weather didn't want us to continue. The closer we got to the next lake, the colder, windier and rainier it got. Even spotted some snowfall above 12,000 (yes, it does that even in July and Aug. in the Rockies). By the time we finally gave up and were half-way back to Bear Lake (our jump off point) the sun was back out.

Still I got to spend the day in the mountains with one of the most important women in my life. My daughter.

Transferring photos to the HD now so I can start culling. Took 229 photos of three lakes, one mountain stream, some mountain and aquatic flowers (the lilies on Nymph lake were blooming!), some chipmunks and a couple noisy birds I'm hoping someone can help me identify. Didn't see any deer or elk this trip. Usually we get to see at least a few in the Moraine Basin. No moose either, though we only see them once every four or five trips. No cougars, but I've only seen cougars three times in all the trips I've made into the mountains, though I'm sure they've seen me more often. No bears either (except the lake) but I've only ever seen one bear in the Rockies and that was from a long way off. I could only identify it as a bear through the 300mm telephoto I had back then.

Dorothy did get one thing right. There really is no place like home and days like today make me realize how lucky I am to call Colorado home. Smile

I have GOT to start spending more time in the mountains. They're an hour away for fucks sake! Next time I'm there (if I've got the money in two weeks), I'm buying a year pass.

Oh, for fucks sake. I just checked their site and an annual pass is $40. I paid $20 today and had I ponied up another $20, next week, and ever time after that for a year would have been good. Facepalm

Listening to Todd Terje. Then, ironically, bed.

Finally got to do something besides work in Okinawa today and took an all-day guided bus tour of some of the historical sites from WWII. Got to see some beautiful scenery.

The ruins of a thirteenth century castle.

And some nice vistas of the city.

I have seen a good bit of the Island already traveling to and from our various worksites and realized something today that really surprised me. That’s how untidy everything is. A lot of the buildings including what looks to be nice homes are rundown looking. Yards are unkept and full of trash. Not garbage just a lot of old junk. I would expect to see some of that anywhere, but it really surprised me that here it seems to be not the exception but the rule.

No they're not. They went to the beach with my cousin over the 4th of July and they're just now finally coming home.
