Free beer, free food and the company of my friends at work are the only reasons I have ever attended a Colorado Rockies game. I did try to score world series tix and even got into the system before the first two Coors Field games sold out, but I couldn't afford the $300 each for Rock Pile seats (the $5.00 reg. season seats). I've been to four now (one each year for the last four years in a suite paid for by the company) and the Rox are 2-2 losing last year to the Marlins and this year to (the Rox really suck this year) the Cubs. Ugh.

I'm going to date myself, but when I watched the Rockies, they were a hokey team. Smile But the beer and the food were there.

So am I, 'cause I watched 'em too. Too young for the beer though. I was 13 when they shipped off the East Rutherford and became the New Jersey Devils.

They sucked about as bad as the current Rockies. Big Grin

The most amusing part of the whole game was the 8 year old kid sitting right in front of us explaining everything to his mom who was downing gin and tonics and not paying any attention to him.

OH! Hockey? (Well, some hockey teams are pretty hokey, I must admit)

I'm not much into the "big four" American sports, but like many of you, occasionally go just socially, and enjoy the giveaways and all that, and the atmosphere. Soccer is more my thing (obviously).

But I do like (passively) listening to sports radio and SportsCenter. I like those voices. And I have an Angels tee, just because I like the logo (I'm kind of into branding. I should have taken it in college. Ever since the Nickelodeon debacle, I have enjoyed Brand New, a corporate art blog.

What am I up to now? Digesting breakfast, contemplating a shower, then maybe farmer's market, but maybe stay home and do laundry, etc.

I am fuming. I am watching this film, "Kidnapped for Christ." Watching these poor kids get physically, emotionally, and mentally abused, all for being "troubled youths." One because he is gay, one because she had panic attacks and couldn't tolerate school, one because she drank and smoked weed like any other high schooler. They are kindapped and taken to the Dominican Republic and held in a prison style camp for months or years.

This kid David. He's gay. I've never seen so much anguish in a person's voice and demeanor. His parents just abandoned him. His mom told him she couldn't love a gay son. He's woken up at 3am and shackled with a prison belt and dragged through an airport like a murderer. He's given no contact with anyone he loves. He's 17. He's told that he's broken and a shame to his family. He had a 4.3 GPA, was about to Graduate an IB school, was in the running for scholarships to go to a fantastic school for drama.

I am so upset.
