What's everyone up to right now?

I'm a tinkerer and a fledgling developer, so my last iPhone drove me nuts. Plus its nearly criminal to put a battery that small in a 6th gen smartphone.

I'll probably go with the 6P. It'll be $350 cheaper than the 128GB S7, and even though the S7 has the next gen processor in it, I've never liked the handset feel in Samsung smartphones.

I've loved my LG G2, but it doesn't have enough power/RAM to run lollipop. Bogs down a lot. And the battery is on its last leg...

The Samsung phones are too expensive, and if I'm not mistaken, you're at Samsung's mercy as to whether or not you'll get updates.  I wouldn't plan on it.  Tongue

My mom is using my old nexus 4, and while she isn't going to be getting marshmallow, she did get lolipop, and IIRC it shipped with ice cream sandwich.  So, three major updates?  How many did you get on your Samsung?

That's really the reason I went with the nexus line, to get updates unencumbered by carrier shitware and limitations.

I had the S4 before my G2, and it shipped with ICS, and I got the Jelly Bean update. Same with the G2, shipped with Kit Kat, I got the Lollipop update (albeit 6 months late when Verizon pushed it OTA.)

The LG is the only smartphone that I've been happy with. It has a better camera than most phones ship with now, the screen is huge, and I hate buttons on the front. The battery was decent. The speaker/vibrate is shit though. I don't even feel some messages coming through when I'm at work.

I think I'm sold. Maybe the Nexus 7 will come out in the 2nd quarter, and I might just wait on it.

Well I've been pretty happy with the nexus line so far... Other than the absolute need for a protective case, the only other real caveat I'm aware of is that there is no provision for storage expansion. I don't particularly care about that because of cloud storage (I run an ownCloud server, but you can use whatever you want). I personally think the capacity to accept memory cards is overrated.

My LG has the same thing, and I'm okay with it.

The 128 GB 6P ships from the Google Play store for $650. The 128GB 6s+ is $500 more. I could probably get away with the 64GB version at $550.

Also, now I can be out of contract with Verizon, since they don't even sell the 6P.

Holy shit, I paid like $350 for my Nexus 5. I think I have 16GB in mine and I've never come remotely close to filling it up with pr0n.

That's what the 5X is going for.

This is the flagship Google phone, and as flagship phones go, it's still $400-$500 cheaper than Samsung or Apple.

My home away from home is directly in the path of a cat 5 hurricane, the strongest ever recorded in the western hemisphere. I'm concerned about the people there. I checked with some good friends who winter over there, thankfully, they are still in Quebec.
