It's basically a consequence of having hundreds of channels available, 24/7; you have to come up with something to fill them and only a limited amount of cash to play with. You end up with something like 10% proper content, 20% cheap filler and the rest is repeats of things that were actually good once. That's why LCD TVs were invented, to cater for the Lowest Common Denominator.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
