I just watched the following clip of Arthur Benjamin:

What's everyone up to right now?

Waiting on an order of buffalo hot wings. Tonight's ball game is on the west coast, so it isn't starting until 9 o'clock. I guess I'll twiddle my thumb until then.

My daughter had to tell me what a prime number was. So anyway - I know there are people on this thread who have done calculus, which I have no idea of how to do even basic algebra. (Don't try - my daughter is going into 9th grade honors algebra 2 when school starts back up and even she couldn't teach me basic algebra. I'm just too dumb to get the concept and I just can't comprehend it.) Anyway, I just thought the guy in this video was incredible. I could never add or multiply numbers this fast. TL;dr - Mind blown. Waiting for the premiere of Midnight, Texas so that I can watch it.

I hope she is able to fully develop/cultivate her gifts and interests. It is my hope that she will have access to excellent teachers who will provide her with an enriching/stimulating learning experience. With all due respect, I wouldn't be too quick to say that basic algebra or math is beyond you. I understand how you feel about math. Believe it or not, in high school, I also did poorly in math. Math was one of those common topics that plenty of people hyped up as being complicated and hard, and as a result, I allowed myself to believe that it was beyond me (I convinced myself that I was too dumb to try), which resulted in poor math grades along with a horrendous learning experience. With that said, and based on my interaction with you on this site, I think that you're intelligent and capable of doing mathematics. IMO, the main key to success is to fully understand one's learning style. Has math been instructed/presented in a manner that is consistent with the way in which you learn and process information, or was it more in line with the instructor's or other students' learning/thought processes? TL;DR Your daughter is highly gifted, and I hope she is able to maximize her potential. However, I think you are intelligent and could learn math if you really wanted to. Live long and prosper. KS, thank you for the kind words. My daughter is truly gifted. In four months, she has taught herself to read the Korean language. She is also teaching herself how to speak it. I can say "Thank you" and "hello" in Korean. That's about it. She's going into German class for the second year. Took it in 8th grade last year and has taught everyone in the house here a little bit. Of course, she speaks it regularly but none of us have her advanced skill with it. Consequently, she can say Hello in 11 different languages. English, Italian, German, Korean, Spanish, French, Croatia, Egyptian, Sign Language, Dutch, And either Finnish or Sweedish? Not sure. She absolutely loves learning and the rest of her classes in 9th grade will be honors as well, except for German. She's also taking Chorus and Tennis this year. Dropping band after four years of playing the Baritone and three years of playing Violin with the Orchestra. Disclaimer: I am only responsible for what I say, not what you choose to understand.
Watching the Twins game. We held the lead for a couple of innings, but the Dodgers are starting to lay on the wood. 3 to 2, Dodgers.
