"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Watching C-SPAN ahead of the procedural vote concerning health care. And the World Aquatics Championships on NBC. Katie Ledecky is still terrifying.

I'm up and wandering about the apartment with nothing to do. NFL channel was replaying classic games at noon for a while there. But today on NFL channel, it's a re-broadcast of the NFL draft. I can't imagine a more boring show, except whatever is playing on the golf channel.

Planning on a six hour drive sometime soon to go to my husband's uncle's funeral. Found out earlier he's going to probably die today. Don't want to take the kids with us, so we're trying to find someone to watch them. They were pretty close, so he took it pretty hard.

My husband just got his next assignment. We will be moving to Tucson Arizona where he will be trained to fly the A-10.
We were hoping for a spot in North Carolina to be closer to family, but as it is in this career field, the needs of the Air Force come first.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

So very sorry for your husband's loss

Tomorrow is the last day of work before summer break. I just spent the evening finishing paperwork and taking turns calming the baby. Now I'm looking forward to my bed. It's raining cats and dogs outside, a nice summer rain.

My hand felt well enough (6 weeks post-surgery) that I could go to my carving club today! Of course, it is my left hand, which doesn't do as much work, but still...

Watching CSPAN debate proper. Evaluating status after major power outtage caused by squirrel.
