Installing my new graphics card. I spent close to two hours, going very slowly, step by step to make sure that I didn't do something stupid and break the thing. The new graphics card is scoring a ten-fold increase in speed over my old card in the benchmark I ran on it. That's probably a bit misleading, but it's definitely a lot faster. The most anxiety-provoking moment is removing the stupid plastic they cover things with to keep them from getting smudged and keep them shiny. That's kind of a point of no return. Now I can relax again, after a couple of stress-filled days.

Well, Amazon apparently got stock of my graphics card yesterday and tried to ship. I would have received it from them on Thursday. And I would have rather bought my card from Amazon. I just feel like I did something wrong even though I didn't. The best case would have been to have gotten my order from Amazon. But there's really nothing wrong with getting it from Micro Center. I just have a negative opinion of Micro Center from over a decade ago. It's silly, but I can't shake the feeling.
This is not my day. The last time I was out in the rain, the wind shredded my umbrella. But I had a new umbrella that I bought to replace that one when it died, so I didn't worry about it. I go to use that umbrella today and it's defective. It doesn't open. So now I'm headed to Maplewood in the rain without an umbrella. And I didn't think to swap out my Skechers for a pair of boots. I'm just sure there's a puddle out there with my name on it. I should have stayed in bed.
Dad ordered a used Alexa in the mail. He got this.
