Found out that the Barnes and Noble at the Old Orchard mall (the one that closed on Christmas last year) has finally been reopened, and after a long trek to the other side of the shopping center (I was way off when guessing where I needed to park), I went there to check it out on its opening day.
It's a very open-concept store now, with the shelves arranged more in the middle of the store than around the walls. No separate sections for youth or music/movies. It's all rather elegant once you actually figure out where the damn store is. I got a copy of
Sapiens by Harari for Dad, and a copy of
Inside Llewyn Davis for me. Also, a free bookbag because they're doing that for the first day of business.
Also, I found out that someone turned
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off into a kid’s storybook. It’s basically just a basic rundown of the plot with a just a few of the funny things from the original and somehow manages to make ZERO references to Chicago.
Naturally, a lot is taken out (that Ferrari is literally just a vehicle for them to go across
Chicago the city, and that scene where Cameron trashes the car is omitted entirely), and you can probably imagine that this character doesn't make an appearance at all:
I didn't even look into what they did to
Die Hard.
