What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Had a CT scan of my lungs tonight. I'm not normally claustrophobic, but being sucked inside that machine is a bit unnerving.

Finishing lunch and pondering my next move.

Nursing my back. Apparently I'm too old and feeble to move a few bags of concrete, sand, and gravel.

Way better than the noisy MRI coffin.

Pursuant to the weird Warner Brothers Disc Rot issue that I just discovered,  I have spent the last hour and a half plus change screening all the discs in my collection that appeared on the Google Doc in question.

Method: Play each disc in the player downstairs. Play it at the fastest fast-forward until the end. If it plays smoothly, it's likely safe. If it doesn't, it's not.

The good news: The majority of the discs I have screened (33 of them) have passed the test.

The Exceptions (so far):
  • The Ballad of Cable Hogue.
  • East of Eden
  • I Confess
  • The Philadelphia Story
  • The Roaring Twenties
  • Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf
I've still got a ways to go, but if I've made as much headway as I have in the last hour and a half plus, it shouldn't be too long until I get it completed. My guess is I got about halfway through the screening process by the time Dad called me to dinner.

I've a sack of mortar mix sitting in a shed. It's been there long enough to kick. 94 pounds. I used to be able to carry one under each arm a fair distance, like 100 feet or so, into the back yard. Now, one of my sons will have to pull it out and drop it into the trash barrel.
  Cranky

Here's hoping your back recovers.  Cheers!

Finished screening the remaining DVDs (39 of them). Surprisingly, there was only one other casualty found in the second round: Rio Bravo.

Beer, 50 words for snow, cashews and the forum.
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

Checking the hourly temp for my morning outing. As I age I'm less tollerant of colder temps.

Ordered my brother-in-law's birthday gift. I'm giving him dinner for two at Fogo de Chao.
