Got my internet back a day early. Spent the day bopping around, including going to my poetry group meeting. I was too antsy though, so I spent part of the time roaming the halls of the church where we meet. And then I grabbed some rice and stuff at Target afterwards, and while checking the bus schedule on my tablet, missed the bus I needed to take. So I waited a half hour in blinding snow for the next bus, which brought me to Hi-Lake mall too late for a bus home. So, I grabbed some pop and groceries and walked the last mile home at 1 am. All in all, a full day.

Fresh ground Italian roast coffee. I've been surviving on commercial grind the past week, and finally got to buy coffee last night. Yum!

Working on my server trying to create a network of VMs. I've got VMs with different OSes running, but having trouble with the virtual network.

Might be the DNS Server set up.

I just discovered that I can write cursively again. When I lost my fingers, the only digit I retained was my thumb on my left, non-dominant hand. I tried to learn to write with my left hand the first year, but practicing was tiresome and I wasn't getting any better. I tried the handicap aids which you strap to your hand, and none of them worked worth a damn (though I did make it through 8 weeks of intermediate Japanese that way). But now I can write cursive with just an ordinary pen and paper! I just hold my hands together, pen in the left hand, and move my right hand like I normally would in writing.

This means I can go back to school! Vocational Rehab will pay for my classes toward the goal of re-employing me. I'll just get a degree in something salable. Then, once I have my degree, the schools and companies in Japan will pay my way there to teach English! I can spend the rest of my life teaching 3/4 of the year in Japan, and the rest traveling in Japan, China, Korea, Mongolia, India, and Southeast Asia.

This is exciting.

(So why aren't I excited? Depression. *sigh* Oh well. Time enough for feelings later on. So what should I study? Math? Computers? Business? Chinese? Korean? I don't know!)

No, I go to a movie night once a month hosted by a fundy. It wasn't actually that bad last night at all; a couple of people came that hadn't been there in almost two years so we mostly just caught up with them - one of whom was as staunch a Democrat as the host is a Republican so the right-wing shit was also kept to a minimum.

Her husband is also very very sick (sclerosis of the liver) and is basically circling the drain; it wasn't expected that he would make it past Christmas. In all actuality I was pretty shocked that there wasn't any God talk last night given his poor condition; on our way out the door at 11pm we were all encouraging her to call up her kids to help get him to the hospital to have him checked out.

I fixed the problem with my widescreen flat panel monitor not displaying at its native resolution. Yaaaay! I don't have to buy a new graphics card. Yay me!
