Sort of reminds me of the story of Alice and the Queen of Hearts - with a touch of 1984, "ignorance is bliss" thrown in.

I think the story works better if you reverse the roles. Make the Queen Christian and the intruders Atheist - unless you are aiming at high farce in which case you should probably have made the Queen, a cross-dressing King.

To be honest - bit too long, bit too boring - sorry. Most of the themes are worked to death and once we've got the role reversal of the fantasy (that its the theists that have the evidence and the atheists that are denying it) there are no surprises.

I don't get the relevance of the 9.95 gadget at the end. We already know, in the farce, that the Queen, courtiers et al are nuts. In Alice the Queen may ultimately meet her comeuppance but she really never understands how or why - the gadget providing wisdom (?) wouldn't work on them.

Actually, there's no "role reversal" here. It's just present-day reality extrapolated 150 years into the future. By then atheism will have retreated to an insular little Queendom protected by strong-arm guards.

Ah, the Baloney Detector! These were finally perfected in the late 21st Century. You could pick one up for under $12,000 american (except you'd be paying in Chinese currency). By the mid-22nd century the technology had developed enough so that the price was affordable on a monastic budget.

There were prototypes already in the mid-20th century--for those who had access to well-funded labs. Astronomer Carl Sagan had one in his Baloney Detection Kit. Didn't work very well, tho'. Couldn't detect the baloney in his Baloney Detection Kit.

And I've been thinking that Mean Ol' Ikey is pretty sane too. I think he goes into these socratic trances (although everyone just thinks he's nutz). He'll be in a trace at the end of this scene and two of his fellow soldiers (who of course know him well) will take him gently by the arms and escort him off, one on each side. At the crucial half-way point he'll surprise us all by turning out to be very thoughtful and articulate. I'm thinking he'll charge Alienne, Queen of the Atheists with betraying atheism.
