It's true what Creed said. I know the costs would be huge but you got to understand my thinking I have not gone to a doctor for anything since 89 or 90 I have had issues since but still don't go, since i take care of myself in many ways not just working the odds
are with me. Aren't Americans taxed enough? Now I have to get this (actually i will just fined) Years ago i used to work in construction (when I had insurance) if i was sick, once even with the flu I still went to work, this was heavy work outside in the cold winter, so when friends of mine had minor colds and worked in an office took a few days off I could never understand it. it's just they way i grew up. I guess for your point of view I am crazy but it has been working for me well over 20 years!

PS don't be so upset you guys won it's a law now. If Obamacare does not work out the I don't think the Dems will not take the White house the next time.

Taxes on American's are actually one of the lowest in the industrial states. So no, we probably aren't taxed enough. But one of the best way to lower taxes is stop giving tax breaks to corporations and the wealthy.

Today, on average you give $6,000 to corporations on a yearly bases due to their tax breaks, increased taxes to make up for their lower taxes, and their subsidies.

As to your going to work sick, that is part of the problem with people who go to work sick. They get others sick. I can't tell you how often I have been at work when someone is sick, and they just past it to everyone else in the office. Net effect is decreasing productivity due to people being home sick. Their kids getting sick and parents having to stay home for them..... We could go on and on and on. But it isn't a good idea. It is also inconsiderate of others that you work with at your employment.

And yes, I use to do the same thing, until I realized the misery I was inflicting on others. Fortunately today, I can work from home so I opt to do that when I am sick.

Yeah, I remember those people, too, the ones who would come into the office and spread their germs around to every other person there. Then the office would be like a mausoleum for a couple of months, and we'd struggle to cover everyone's positions. Really selfish, the people who do that. But then, my take on most American Libertarian types is exactly that: Selfish and immature. They can only see themselves and their own needs/wants.

It's true, you cannot be denied health care in this country if you go to a hospital emergency room. But here's a scenario I've seen played out several times: Guy works his whole life, does everything right, has his little suburbo house, a little savings, wife, kids and yada yada. Suddenly, after age 55, he is laid off his long-term job. Can't find another, and part of the reason for that is because companies don't want to assume the liability in their own health insurance plans for an older worker. Cheaper and easier to hire the young ones instead. Suddenly, he suffers a massive health issue. Maybe a heart attack, maybe a stroke, maybe he just trips and shatters his ankle. Everything he ever worked his whole life for is now owed to the hospital. Sure, he was treated. But here he is, on the cusp of retirement, and he's starting all over again. What a life he's got now!

Is this the society you want? The one that can bankrupt you on the brink of retirement because you suffered a medical misadventure?

I don't get it, I really don't. We require people to carry vehicle insurance because of the potential liabilities involved in driving. But medical insurance, which EVERYONE is going to need sooner or later... we resist spreading that risk? Makes no sense to me at all.

And don't even get me started on the tax issue. If I have to hear one more time about how poor corporations in this country are taxed at 35%... sure, that's the tax rate -- THAT NONE OF THEM PAY. Tell me about their EFFECTIVE tax rate -- which is often NOTHING -- and then tell me all about how we're hobbling those noble corporations with our disastrous tax rate. As for the super-wealthy in this country? Tax-wise, they've never had it so good. They have done extremely well out of the past several administrations. Makes me sick enough to need decent health insurance.

Let's get one thing straight, I was not in an office, i was outside, no one was getting ill because of me, no matter how you spin it, I was out building scaffolding by myself. if I am working out in a gym and have a slight sore throat I don't workout so no one will get ill, stop making me the bad guy.

As far as health care my main complaint I am worried about paying for this. If we stop going to war for no reason it would be given to Americans for free and don't talk about Repulblicans Obama is looking to bomb Syria, both parties suck.

I don't have health insurance and don't want it, I don't use the emergency room or go to a private doctor that's not my problem. The dicks are people who live in doctors offices because they don't work on their health which they should, those are the ones that drive up the costs. I have said this before if people all thought like me we would not have costs out of control. If you don't take care of your health then maybe your a dick.

You expect that doctors, nurses and other specialists will undergo training and hospitals will be built, staffed and supplied in order to stand ready when needed. You don't feel you should be a penny out of pocket to provide for this infrastructure. But you would have no problem making use of it after you get in that auto accident. But you worry they'll soak you for more than the cost of the material needed to make the supplies. You're not getting the big picture. You just want to freeload on those of us who do support they things through our insurance so that you can get a bargain when you need something. That does make you the bad guy .. one of many.

My situation is very unusual compared to everyone here. Not many people can say they have not seen a doctor in about 24 years.
I don't think i have to pay a cent because i am out of the system, If i used those services even once i would agree but never is a different story. If I get into a major auto accident my auto insurance pays, if' it is a minor accident i won't even bother. I don't see your problem

It was lifesaving treatment. I needed the services of an anesthesiologist to keep me unconscious while I was on a ventilator for several days.
