It does not help because all individuals are receiving mutations.

It does however prevent evolution from changing one kind of creature into another.

That also falsifies atheistic origin science.

You are a very ignorant and confused person. I pity you.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

What the fuck. Please never teach a class on evolution. We have enough Ray Comfort Crockoduck bullshit artists spreading their poison.

You still do not understand the concept of change over long periods of time. You also don't understand genetic family meaning other species having the same common ancestors.

ALL PRIMATES, including humans, had the same common ancestors.

Just like a domestic house cat has the same common ancestors as a tiger or lion.

And how the fuck would that prop up your Poof Daddy in any case? Muslims have their Poof Daddy, Hindus have their pollythiestic poof charcacters.

Attacking science, does not prop up your magic wand super hero.

Evolution is fact, religion lost, get the fuck over it accept it and move on.

(October 7, 2013 at 7:10 am)SavedByGraceThruFaith Wrote: So since no complex interrelated new design can occur, the DNA changes do corrupt the genome.

Complex interrelated new features do evolve. It has been observed. One well known example is Richard Lenski's e-coli evolving the ability to metabolize citrates under oxygen rich conditions. Lenski's escherichia coli long term evolution experiment has been running for more than 50,000 generations now. Somewhere before generation 20,000 one of the populations involved in the experiment developed a neutral mutation. Somewhere around generation 30,000 this same population experienced another mutation which along with the previously mentioned one resulted in the ability to metabolize citrates under oxygen rich conditions. Lenski was able to reproduce these results by thawing earlier samples of his different populations. Once again the population with the original mutation developed the second mutation. The two mutations together resulted in an advantageous evolutionary change. Once again, you are wrong.

Even intelligent design proponent Michael Behe, one of a very few ID proponents with actual credentials in the feild, recognizes the mechanisms that allow these types of things to happen. He discusses them in his paper Experimental evolution, loss-of-function mutations, and “the first rule of adaptive evolution. In the paper he discusses three different types of changes that Functional Coded elemenTs (FCTs) can undergo. The changes include loss of function (the only thing you seem to be familiar with) modification of function and gain of function mutations. You can read the his paper here.

Since creationists can't seem to grasp the immense time span it takes for phyletic gradualism to "change one kind of creature into another", look no further than polyploidy. Polyploidy occurs when a non-disjunction in meiosis results in offspring with a different number of homologous chromosomes to the parent - and instantaneous speciation. You have polyploidy to thank for wheat products such as bread.

I am thinking that such scientific accuracy will be lost on this "grace" personage Sejanus

Predicted response: "but does that bread give birth to waffles? NO. It gives birth to bread, thereby falsifying Atheistic Origin Science."
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I corrected you on these points on the first page of this thread.

(October 5, 2013 at 7:25 am)SavedByGraceThruFaith Wrote: at least 30 mutations per generation
Far more than that: ~1.1×10−8 per site per generation. Your figures are so far out, they're laughable. You demonstrate, once again, that you are knowledgeless, uneducated and unfit to hold this discussion.

Quote:mutations are errors
Even Wikipedia knows more than you: "In genetics, a mutation is a change of the nucleotide sequence of the genome of an organism, virus, or extrachromosomal genetic element. Mutations result from unrepaired damage to DNA or to RNA genomes (typically caused by radiation or chemical mutagens), errors in the process of replication, or from the insertion or deletion of segments of DNA by mobile genetic elements. Mutations may or may not produce discernible changes in the observable characteristics (phenotype) of an organism. Mutations play a part in both normal and abnormal biological processes including: evolution, cancer, and the development of the immune system."
