This is why I hate people who hate "fucking christians"

In response to the thread of the same name on Christianity.

The line between good people and bad people (if you want to generalise,) is drawn squarely down the middle of both groups. There are good xtians and Fuck wit xtians just as there are good atheists and Fuck wit atheists.

Now Christians, we often indulge in a little "us and them" one upmanship. We're special you see. Saved and that. Some take it to extremes and view unbelievers in a lump as baby eating Satanic monsters. The Unsaved, with a capital U and said in the same tone as "the Walking Dead". The "God hates fags" brigade. These people are fuckwits.

And, apparently, their are also atheists who are willing to state that they "hate xtians". Apparently collectively and indiscriminately. Lumping them all together and apparently experiencing strong negative emotional feelings towards them because they believe something you don't.

Personally, I hate prejudice. And I'm not generally fond of prejudicial people. Prejudice is a loathsome behavior often, I'd say most often, associated with religion but apparently not always. It seems that prejudice happens without recourse to religion.

I hate that. .

"Because they believe something you don't" is a simplistic conclusion to draw. Christians, through multiple avenues-dogma, behavior, voting...the list is long, have heaped upon themselves the contempt they receive.

I used to like fucking Christians - particularly those that came out of a convent.

As my wife is nominally a Christian I have to say I quite like fucking her too.

Of course I have never fucked a Buddhist so I can readily make comparisons.

It's also good to remember that a lot of people use this site to vent and often times will make generalizations when, in fact, they are emoting over the behavior over some Christians. One only has to spend a little bit of time here to see some of the disgusting behavior of our fundies to understand that some venting is needed.

That doesn't make it right, but that also doesn't make every use of the phrase "fucking Christians" rise to the level of bigotry and hatred.

Atheists who hate Christians most often used to be Christians. It probably takes an ex-one to hate one. Imagine how you'd feel if your family and the community of people you grew up with were all intent on coercing your acceptance of something you found absurd. But not everyone had it equally bad. Those who didn't escape until after they'd exerted pressure on others of the sort that had been used on them probably have the hardest time forgiving themselves - and therefore also you.

So welcome reasonable Christian dude. I have no beef with you. But understand that those who are still processing their deconversion probably will. If it gets too hot in the kitchen .. take a break. Hope you stick around though.

Keep in mind you'll encounter a high number of people going through the deconversion in a place like this. Once all this stuff is old hat, like to me and many others, we simply have no interest in discussing it any more. Ironically, the only ones will even somewhat listen are the ones most inclined to give you grief. But even then, once the deconversion process starts, its pretty much inevitable.

If someone is first unwilling to drop their stones, then all hatred shall continue. I for one, haven't the strength, nor any longer the desire, to hate others. I abhor much of the divisive reasoning on both sides of the matter.
