Atheists ONLY - Are you less happy now that you are an atheist?

Atheists ONLY - Are you less happy now that you are an atheist?
Atheists, are you less happy now that you no longer believe in God, excluding any unhappiness caused by theists' nonacceptance or attacks?

I am wanting to know if just losing the god belief itself has caused you permanent unhappiness.

Nope, made me happier because I feel like I have more control and I'm no longer worried about hell and heaven (as a theist I thought both were awful options and often worry about death).

I've never been aware of being anything else, so answering "no" makes little sense; true though it may be. Unhappiness in my life has nothing to do with atheism, mine or anyone else's. Hope there's something useful in that lot.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I am happier, more free from the oppressive restraints of religion, now than I was as a theist.

Theism is a veritable shroud that hides reality from one's perception. Once the theistic shroud is removed, it is akin to viewing the world with the clarity of color vision rather than black and white.

That second paragraph, damn that's good! Wish I'd thought that up!

I am the same.

All you did was swap one set of restraints for another set.

The need to belong tethers us to compromise, any true expression of personal liberty cannot be understood by others.

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

Well I have never been religious.
"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful" - Edward Gibbon (Offen misattributed to Lucius Annaeus Seneca or Seneca the Younger) (Thanks to apophenia for the correction)

No.

In fact the opposite is true. I'm far happier now than I was when I followed a religion. In my case, Catholicism.
Dying to live, living to die.

I don't know how happy I'd be if I would have carried on believing in god.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.
