Less anger towards religion

Less anger towards religion
Kind of an irrelevant thread, but just wanted to put out there that for some reason, during the last few years my hatred and anger towards the religion has considerably diminished for some reason.

I still despise religion and the church, but no longer I inform myself about it or dedicate much thought to it. My interest has shifted toward capitalism instead.

Anyone relates? God speed

I agree that capitalism is far worse than religion.

I would question that statement. But I have come to realized that capitalism affects pretty much every aspect of our life. At least when it comes to religion, once you break out if, is becomes irrelevant in your life unless you live in a very religious country.

It's simply a consequence of getting older, I think. In my younger days, I was something of a firebrand about several issues, that today are more 'meh' to me. These days, I'm more concerned that I can no longer process dairy as well as I used to.

To talk little is natural.
High winds do not last all morning.
Heavy rain does not last all day.
Why is this? Heaven and Earth!
If heaven and Earth cannot make things eternal,
How is it possible for man?

I never hated religion. I think a personal cosmology, value system and poetic view of ultimate questions is important. I just find traditional religions to be lacking, just plain incorrect, or in a few cases dangerous.

I feel the same way about economic systems. Capitalism and socialism are both bad in their pure forms.

I find religion to be as ubiquitous and unworrisome as I ever have - while I see that theism, specifically, continues to fuck up in all the ways it always has. It won't stop, and can't stop. It's not a bug, it's a feature.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I've been in a headspace for the last five or six years that so long as they leave me alone and don't try to enact their precepts into laws that force others to do their bidding, I don't really care. Of course that means I do get passionate about shit like the abortion decision, and other legal matters driven by religious considerations.

I'm a lot less angry about it now than I used to be... but I think that was just stuff I needed to work through when coming out of religion, so to speak. Being a Brit, religion doesn't affect me that much, apart from within my own family, but if I was living in America, where religion, and its influence, is in everything, then I'm sure I'd feel a lot more angry. As it is though I'm not interested in arguing it much anymore... it seems futile to me if nothing else. But that said I do admire the patience if nothing else of those who do keep up the good fight, but it's not for me, any more.

Actually, I'm the opposite.  I used to have a live-and-let-live approach and I still pretty much do but I am growing increasingly angry at all irrational worldviews because I see where the world is headed and why.  Now, I'm not saying that religion is the chief cause because there are many bad ideas out there but they are a large part and they are teaching young defenseless children this stuff.  I don't have that much anger toward the rank-and-file members but the leaders are another story.  They have made it their life's work to spread a false view of the world we live in.  Like Henry Binswanger says:  Faith is an icepick to the brain.
"Do not lose your knowledge that man's proper estate is an upright posture,  an intransigent mind, and a step that travels unlimited roads."

"The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody has decided not to see."
