If I can't get that damn Cher song out of my head after reading that, there's going to be hell to pay.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Bring it. I'm in a feisty mood and ready for all kinds of kinky punishments God wouldn't approve of.

I'm a little late to the party, but...

So, if intelligence must come from somewhere, where did the intelligence of your postulated creator god come from?

Quote:And the question I always ask people who believe in atheism is: Why does sex feel good?

There is no such thing as 'belief in atheism'.

Atheism is a response to a claim, not a claim in itself.

If sex did not feel good, we would not be compelled to do it. Any species that is not compelled to procreate wold not survive.

Quote:If there is no God or creator or higher power, where does this intelligence come from? Where does ALL the intelligence in life come from, such as love and hate?

Intelligence is a product of evolution. Intelligence evolved in humans as a survival mechanism. The only reason why you place such a high premium on intelligence is because you have it.

From the standpoint of cheetahs, speed is what is important. From the standpoint of whales, staying under water for 30 minutes is important.

Love, hate and all other emotions are caused by various combinations of chemicals released into the brain. Nothing magical there.

Quote:Isn't it possible that there is a God or whatever you'd like to call it, only it doesn't exist as a man in the sky or any form that most religions might describe it by that this intelligence originates from?

It may be possible in the sense that nothing is impossible. But the possibility is next to zero. And since I care what is true, not what is possible, there is no justification to believe a god as you describe exists.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
