I use 7 Enterprise at work, 7 Professional on my laptop, and 8 on my media center.
I'm convinced that that the Windows 8 user interface was designed by lemurs on a cocktail of LSD, crystal meth, and cough syrup.
Once you get used to it, you can get around fine, but it seems to me that they went out of their way to hide, well, everything - there's no damn visual cues how to pull up the start screen, the charms bar, or anything else. Plus the start screen is just a fucking brain-damaged design for anyone unfortunate enough to be using a touchpad on a high-resolution screen.
On my media center, I don't care, because I run a single application and use an android remote control app to control it. If I was forced to use 8 on my laptop, I'd seriously consider getting a Macbook.

Nothing much about the GUI changed in the transition from windows 7 to 8 , so i'm staying with 7 .
although the threading thing is great in windows 8.

The first time I tried Windoze 8 I hated it, but I have been playing with 8.1 for a few weeks now, once I worked out how to get rid of the stupid "Start Screen", got rid of the "Charm bar" and added software to put the start button back it's not that bad! It boots faster than my win 7 machine and seems stable. The only problem I had was it didn't recognise my (very old) wireless card but a usb dongle worked fine.

Hate windows in general. When forced to use it, I prefer XP. I'm a Linux/OSX guy.

Still, in the meantime I'll be happy with my W7; and if anyone has any suggestions how to record live pc sounds in the absence of the stereo mixer option, I'll happily listen.
