If this is true, its disgraceful. I like multiculturalism in Britain but this is too far, like when they try and impose shaira law in places. We are too tolerant sometimes

This is bullshit. Muslims CAN touch beer bottles and wine bottles and wrapped up pork they just cannot eat it. I come from a muslim country and muslim cashiers handle these things ALL THE TIME with no drama. In fact, most of the stores sell pork and alcohol, you have to go to stores and restaurants that has a special government approved logo that says "halal" to avoid all things that muslims cannot touch/eat/look at/whatever. And this is a muslim country with shariah court.

Britain is bending over backwards for all the wrong reasons and it's fucking ridiculous. Tolerating intolerance is not tolerance, it's being stupidly intolerant when you don't even know why.

Yeah, the media do love stories like this and only the most extreme Muslims make the news. The few Muslims I do know are very moderate and would never dream of causing problems for an employer.

However at the other extreme people are afraid of being called racist when dealing with Muslims. There are also genuinely racist groups over here that also make the news a lot.

I dont see any problem . There is no problem if the employer approves this request and this case does not concern anyone . I'd do the same thing .

The problem is - they are refusing to sell legal goods, which interferes with their job and the transfer of goods from those employers to the consumer. This also discourages the hiring of Muslims by employers that do not want to jump through hoops just to sell shit to their customers.
