If you do go, you could take a tablet and note pad and take notes of every fallacy and contradiction you hear in the sermon. We'd love to help you tear it apart later when you post it.

Funerals are about the only thing I can tolerate. Someone needs a shoulder to cry on I can bite my tongue for an hour or two. Weddings or church are boring and unimaginative and needlessly suck resources from people. Not that funerals don't.
But seriously, if it bothers you that much, you simply need a plan. You sound like you don't want to do this year after year. You don't have to be mean about it, but try to explain to your family you love them, but that is simply not your thing.
I decided to do just that. Had a bit of the a argument with old man. I know he will ask agian, but he wanted to let it go for christmas. Typical day for us as we argue anyway. Incidentally he is not even a Christian and just felt it was a important family thing.

Actually the municipality finally decided to plow the street ( we've had record snow this year) and they ended leaving a huge bank of snow and ice right on the church step so it was canceled. They will need a tractor to move it
