My sister played frisbee with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I was largely deaf until the age of 4 or 5.
I am not a strong reader. I use book clubs to motivate me, otherwise I'd probably never read books.
I was a gifted math student in junior high, in one of two pilot programs for Minnesota. The first year we went 3x the speed of the highest normal track, and 2x the speed the second year.
I'm a terrible student. I never had to do any homework until college, and so my learning habits are atrocious and resulted in a rather broken mathematics skill set.
I'm somewhat poly-religious. Taoism and Hinduism are my core, but I'll use human technology from any religion indiscriminately. I meditate with Buddhists, and plan to take up the rosary.
I'm a failed poet. I wrote a lot in high school and college, even taking advanced classes, until one day I realized that I had no talent, and gave it up.
I tend to wear bright colors and odd combinations. One hospital visit, the psychiatrist wrote in my chart that I was "flashy."
I'm very soft spoken. People frequently need me to purposefully concentrate on speaking up in groups.
My favorite art is that of the Pre-Raphaelites, particularly John William Waterhouse, Dante Gabriel Rosetti, and William Holman Hunt.
I like pink, red, and purple.

My father was the milkman....
No, seriously. My parents had a 'milk-run' delivering milk in bottles....way back when.

I'm the second oldest of seven children.
Thirty five years ago I skateboarded Devil's Slide, a stretch of highway 1 perched high above the Pacific ocean, twice to the South and once to the North.

When I was younger I could write legibly on an Etch-a-sketch without looking at it and make recognizable sketches of things.

1. I can play 'Rocky Road To Dublin' on the tinwhistle. With my nose.
2. I have a completely irrational fear of horses.
3. I'm a VERY good cook, but it's mostly Irish food, so nobody can tell if it's good or not.
4. I was once bitten by a llama.
5. Celebrity Moment: I've been snogged by Sinead O'Connor (mustn't make that sound special - she was snogging everyone within reach).

The only time I ever broke a bone in my body was playing football (that's soccer for you muricans)... and I managed to break the three middle metatarsals!

I met Laura Bush at the White House. We were actually ready to get on a plane to D.C. to meet the president to honor a bunch of craftspeople who donated work to National collection the day after the planes flew into the Pentagon. They decided to postpone that honor for a year and W was then too busy to see us. Not that I'm complaining. We got to hear Colin Powell and the presidential historian they call the hunk. (Decent looking guy, not really my type.) We had dinner at the old Library of Congress, toured some things and at the reception at the White House we were in line for lunch behind Henry Kissinger. My wife is a wee bit of a celebrity in her field.
When I was in my early twenties I was briefly a part of a belly dancing troupe put together by my (then) sister in law. I was basically the center piece to a bunch of sexy dancing, scantily clad babes. I could roll my non-existent stomach up or down. Felt like a rooster in the hen house I did.
My first wife went on to marry someone who physically abused her and had a kid with him. That kid grew up to kill the wife of a famous man and carved a cross in her back at the age of 17. He was tried as an adult and got life in prison. (She got into all sorts of weird woo after I knew her.)

1) I don't have a fear of horses, cows, llamas, spiders, crabs, or snakes, though sharks, lions, tigers, and bears scare the hell out of me.
2) I am not afraid of heights, but have a rational fear of that sudden stop at the end of a high fall.
3) I am a geologist who has done hydrogeology work as an environmental consultant in 13 states, though I haven't worked in the profession for 10 years due to disability.
4) I am now a board member of the Louisville Astronomical Society (LAS), which has been informing the public about astronomy for 80 years.
5) I am divorced.
6) I once walked right by William Shatner at the World Championship Horse Show and didn't know it until my (then) wife pointed him out to me.

As I've written before, if you are a complete amateur and don't understand a subject, don't demonstrate the Dunning-Kruger effect by writing a book about it and proving your ignorance to everyone else! Then you may be able to stand being in the same room as my eldest son. He has discovered protein powders and gives off regular blasts of the most horrendous smells.

1. My longterm memory is legit. My earliest memory is before I turned 2 years old. I was up in the middle of the night playing with stuffed animals, occasionally talking to them but for the most part interacting with very little mental or verbal use of language (but clearly I had a concept of such). My mother woke up and came to the room, her face scared me because she looked so tired. I remember feeling a startled and fearful emotion, no words came to mind.
2. I was the fastest reader in the honors segment of my class in highschool. I could read at 729 wpm in junior year, higher than the future valedictorian. I got faster later on in my college career. Ever since psychosis, I tend to not read at a high pace, but still can when I need to.
3. The first time I received a barbie doll, I was about two at christmas. I opened the package, without looking up I picked up the barbie and threw it across the room and then took the animal toys that came with the doll and played happily with those. I was born without an attachment to femininity, I swear. (Although my favorite color was pink for years).
