I'm concerned that if this makes Christie non-viable as a candidate, then one of the crazy Republicans has a chance. Clinton is hated on the right and there may be an 'ObamaCare' backlash. Those two things open the door for a Republican win.
One can only hope that the Republican ticket is too batshit crazy to get elected.
I wouldn't worry about that. The batshit wing of the GOP plays well in the primaries, but when it comes to the general election they scare the hell out of most sensible people. Nominating such a candidate is a sure-fire way for the party to further marginalize itself.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Obama is not exactly polling well these days, and there is bound to be a backlash. The big question for me is how Clinton (or anyone else from the Democratic party) will distance themselves from the worst aspects of the Obama presidency without exposing themselves to charges of being political weather vanes.
