Prison is cruel and unusual punishment.

OK a little bit of sarcasm but I do believe that if someone is a heinous criminal especially one with a life sentence should be put down.
I also think that a lot of non violent offenders should not be there in the first place. An example of this would be a pot smoker that got caught.
I also believe that when someone is released they should have all rights restored as they paid their debt to society. Some will argue that they shouldn't get their rights restored because they still pose a potential threat to others. My answer to that is simple. If they are potentially dangerous then don't let them out of prison in the first place.
You know our prison system in America has turned into a business that is there to make money. I saw where a judge was sending young men to a private prison with extra longs sentences and the prison was paying him for it.
I know I just ranted on almost incoherently but I just drank some strong coffee and am under the influence of it.

I also believe that if someone is released, they should be considered having their debt paid. If they can't get work and people won't associate with them, how will they actually be constructive citizens?

I have no idea why they turned prison into a business. That's not the kind of thing that should need a quota to fill.

Agreed. All rights should be restored when you return to society. Also, I think that prisoners should be allowed to vote while in prison too.

Assuming they're going to get out again, and they are still supposed to have basic rights, I don't see why not. If they're meant to stay the rest of their lives, the going ons of the nation probably shouldn't concern them.

Yeah but even life prisoners should be able to vote for a candidate that is pro prison reform. I would even say that a lot of the prisoners that are in their for life have family that they might vote in favor for as well. For example a prisoner with kids may vote for a state represenative/senator/governor or a president that would increase spending towards education.

Yeah maybe. Especially if they have access to the news or something. If they're able to watch the news and maybe read the paper or whatever, then they should probably still have a voice on some issues. It may depend on how cut off from that they are.
