Pulp: 2. popular or sensational writing that is generally regarded as being of poor quality.

Quote:You are right, and your the opposite of humility is: arrogance. You have quite a bit of it, and absolutely no humility whatsoever. I'm pretty sure your god would not approve.
Actually in a biblical context it is pride more over the pride of life that is the oppsite of the humility we are to seek. The pride of life is the elevation of one's self or what he esteems over God. I take Pride in God as we are commanded. Corinthians, “I take great pride in you” (2 Corinthians 7:4), and that he was giving them “an opportunity to take pride in us” (2 Corinthians 5:12); and to the Galatians (6:4): “Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself.” The more literal Revised Standard Version translates the relevant words of Romans 15:17 as “I have reason to be proud of my work for God”; 1 Corinthians 15:31 as “I protest, brethren, by my pride in you which I have in Christ Jesus”; 2 Corinthians 1:14 as “you can be proud of us as we can be of you”; and Philippians 2:16 as “so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.” The pride you see here focous on God as the source of power to accomplish these things, not one's self. That is what we are called to, to be humble and meek when appraising ourselves and abilities and to take pride in what God does on our behalf.
I have said many many times that I am nothing with out God. that it is God that gives me the answers I have given you all. I take pride in the fact that someone who did not learn to read and write till well into his 20's can be used by God to answer the questions you all put here. If not for God this Daniel would have been consumed by the lions in this den.
Where personal pride leaches into what God has done is in some of the name calling. To which I will stop and do appologise again.

To feel like someone shoveling hot coals onto your head?
I think so, the bible seems to think so, your work here to silence me seems to verify this as well. Seems to me I am a light, I'm just not illuminating what your wanting to see.

the bible verses you did leave show me you are indeed in the dark as I am about to show you. You guys think you know Christianity and know of God when in fact most of you do not have a clue. You created strawmen out of memories of sunday school, catholic myth, and movies.. Then you take this picture of God you created for yourself and then attack it with the made up doctrines you believe The God of the bible is somehow supposed to adhear to.. When your strawman fails you assume there is no God. (because the only god you know fails) When in fact all you have done is proved to yourself that your crap version of God was not real. So are you in the Dark concerning the God of the bible? Yes! how do I know this? Because I have been A/S/King for 20+ years and I haven't found the full light of God yet, and I am working with the God of the bible, not some made up strawman I constructed that I could use to disprove the existence of God.
Quote:Doubtful. But I'll bite.
Keep in mind, Drich. I live life in love.
By your work here and in other posts I can tell, it shows.
Quote: Only in absolute humility can you find, absolute love.
Quote:The difference between you and I is that you are here in the lions den, proselytizing. A higher standard is held unto you, than us. It's a self-administered standard charged upon you by your god. When you don't uphold that responsibility, and bring yourself down to 'human' level, you don't really do much for your intended purpose if indeed your intended purpose is ministry.
1cor 9:19 For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; 20 and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law,[c] that I might win those who are under the law; 21 to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God,[d] but under law toward Christ[e]), that I might win those who are without law; 22 to the weak I became as[f] weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 23 Now this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.
Paul seems to disagree with you on this point. Look at 21 forward:21 to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God,[d] but under law toward Christ[e]), that I might win those who are without law;
From this one of the first popes coined this phrase:" When in Rome do as the Romans do." This is the jist of what Paul says in 21. Although Paul did add do not be with out the Law towards God, but under the law towards Christ, or as the ERV puts it: (But really, I am not without God’s law—I am ruled by the law of Christ.)
Yes I push back, and I have absolutely no intention of stopping my pushing back, or identifying misquoted scriptures or any misrepresented scriptures even if (but will not make an effort to do so unless the effort is made the other way) it makes you or anyone else look foolish in the process. Because I am (without the law) here with people who live without the law. (but not really I am still ruled by Christ) Which is why I made the commitment to stop the nick naming. NOT because nick naming is a sin, but because it was becoming a source of personal pride for me. As a result some feelings may have been hurt.
Do not mistake my concern here for a general concern for hurting feelings across the board. Understand this, IF or where you are out of line in misrepresenting the Bible or God I will put you back in check.
Again I have identified and corrected where I or rather my wife saw me as being out of line. If you think you see more then please show me book chapter and verse. Otherwise know it will be you trying to proselytize in the lion's den (That was the closest thing they had, but you get the idea. )
Bible Wrote:“Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
- Philippians 2:3–4
“We do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord and ourselves as slaves for Jesus’ sake.”
2 Corinthians 4 verse 5
1 Thessalonians Ch 5
“Clothe yourselves with humility, for God is opposed to the proud but gives grace to the humble. Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you at the proper time.”
1 Peter 3:8
To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit;
Isaiah 57:15
For thus says the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, "I dwell on a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite.
Colossians 3:12
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;
Titus 3:2
to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men.
James 3:13
Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.
1 Peter 5:5
You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.
Proverbs 18:12
Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, But humility goes before honor.
James 4:6
But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE."
Again you have created a one sided view. I provided the other side where we are told to take pride in certain situations and I gave an explaination that allows for these verses to hold true while allowing for Pride in God.
When looking at scripture we must look all of it not cherry pick to build arguments, otherwise they can be easily countered and people get their feelings hurt.
Quote:Oh? So you already knew there was scripture that supports that you are out of line?
This begs the question in that you assumed that I was out of line. but again 1cor 9 shows that I am not.
Further more if you want to get technical Name calling/Nick naming someone is not a sin either.
Jesus Handed out nicknames like they were candy. James and John were named the sons of thunder. Which mean they were too quick to anger/strike/make a fuss. which was a constant reminder of their temperament/short commings. What about peter his real name was simon, (and he like to do draawings./j/k) He was named petros by Christ, which means pebble or small fragment of the greater petra/rock.
The idea being Simon peter was 'unstable' or even not dependable. Look at the ways peter failed Christ through out their time together. In the sea where he began to sank beneath the waves because his faith was faltering, He betrayed Christ 3 times before the rooster crowed, he jumped the gun and cut the arresting guard's ear off, made commentment he did not keep and so on.. Then we can also turn to the unbelievers. Do you know what He called the scribes, Pharisees and makes of the law? (The holiest men of their day?) Do you know his name calling is what got him killed? Because those men were not going to be shown up by a nobody... Sound familiar yet?
Why is name calling a nonsin? Because the act itself does not hold a 'moral/righteous' value. It is why your doing it that makes all the difference in the world.
Do it for the right reasons, You help a person. Do it for the wrong ones then you start to wander, and what you do suffers because of it. I was wandering.
Did things just get a little brighter in here?

Paul seems to disagree with you on this point. Look at 21 forward:21 to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God,[d] but under law toward Christ[e]), that I might win those who are without law;
1 Peter 3:8
To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit;
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;
Titus 3:2
to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men.

That's funny because on an ATHEIST Forum the Christianity subsection seems to get the most traffic.
Quote:What denomination are you? Because THAT'S the only christian denomination for me. You guys have got it figured out, and clearly the rest of the christian denominations are heretics. You should show all your fellow parishioners this posting so that they can see the amazing work you've been doing here.
Quote:What I've learned from Drich about Christianity:
1. Yahweh does NOT love everyone.
In fact the bible even has a list of those in whom God hated.
Quote:2. If you don't know how to properly look for god, you may not find him.
Seeing how we are not born with direct knowledge of God's glory, and the fact that many will die never having known it, that statement is true.
Quote:3. Human sacrifice is not human sacrifice ... unless it is. See a True Christian™ to know the difference.
No idea what you are talking about, I think maybe your trying to move the goal posts on a conversation I had earlier this week on God not commanding Child sacrifice.
Quote:4. God's plan may involve a LOT of death, disease and suffering.
As per the history of the world.
Quote:5. Little children are not "little" at all and sometimes its perfectly acceptable to kill "teenagers" with bears.
The word could also mean 'servant' it describes someone of low social standing.
Quote:6. Hell isn't really hell, but there is a hell and all the non-believers are going there.
don't know what you mean.
Quote:7. If Yahweh is really pleased about how much you love him, he may allow the devil to kill everyone you love.
Don't know what this is supposed to mean either.
Quote:8. It is very likely that god does NOT have a plan for the great majority of people in the world.
... and???
Quote:9. If you were a Christian, and didn't find Jesus, you were never a Christian. See #2
Maybe you want to rephrase this one. Finding Jesus is what makes one a CHRISTian.
Quote: .....and this is the most important thing I've learned from Drich about Christianity:
10. The almighty creator of the universe, who has the ability to be everywhere at any time and even remains inside the bodies of the most devout believers - would rather send an incompetent self-righteous boob to a tiny website rather than just reveal himself to everyone.
What if God's primary goal was for YOU to humble yourself before Him, Before He was made know to you... Wouldn't it be a little counter productive for Him to reveal Himself first?
Quote:Awesome. When's my next lesson Drich? I'm ready to start spreading the good news to all my friends and family. I just need some more of that sweet guidance you give here. I must continue your work.
If you want I can help you find a good church to take your son.

I've donated more to atheist than to Any Baptist minister. (as I am not Baptist.)

Only if that is what you want for yourself.
tl;dr. If I was bothered to read all that I'd probably disagree with everything you've said but hey, kudos for the effort.
~1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.~
~Luke 19:27 "But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me." - Jesus Christ.~
I have a reply forthcoming Drich, I'm just a little sparsed out ATM and this is a long post with intensive things to mull over and address.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
Quote:Some people deserve hell.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
I would not think any more or less of you if you did not reply.. The only thing I ever ask is if your looking for a response on a long post and it takes more than a few days to get back with me, just let me know when you post it. I understand, I too had to once get outside help with some of my post in the beginning, and I know it can take a few days. Especially if it was not the typical fair.
No points will be deducted for SEEKING. If we could just get you to ask and knock then maybe we would be getting somewhere.
If you could understand the fact that we don't choose to be non-believers but rather go where the evidence has led us, you would understand why A/S/K simply cannot work for us.

Umm..Outside help from whom or where exactly? I do all my own work, thank you very much! honestly I just haven't had a chance to read it in detail and I'm short of patience to do so tonight because I'm in pain. But I'll hit you back up, no worries Mr. Trich
