Yea in the big scheme of things we are basically nothing. But that doesn't bring any validity to your question. With that argument, it's no more pointless for an atheist to have kids than it is for a Christian, or a Muslim, or a jew, or anything.

In a universal scale are we pointless? how are we pointless? So far we are the only intelligent beings of the universe that we know of. How do you know what the human race can accomplish and when it could accomplish such things?

If anything, it's theists' lives that are pointless. They believe that this is a "pre-game" of sorts. They die and go on to their true calling in heaven or what have you. For an atheist, this is all we get. The time I have with my son, my unborn daughter, my family, is limited to this life. If that doesn't give your life a "point", then I don't know what is wrong with you.

Well, since this is all you get, why really spoil it by having a child, someone who essentially eats away from your time that you could spend on yourself, rather than on someone else?
You could spend your money on having a flash car instead of investing in your child's education.
And after you're dead, you're dead, you won't need to care about what happens to your children, and no one is going to call you to account for it.
So what exactly is the higher point in having a child for you?

As we know life is pointless and we our all living a death sentence to eternity is it not cruel for us to bring kids into this world with a death sentence over their head.Animals reproduce through basically a biological drug addiction[orgasm] but we humans are better than that we know how to stop pregnancies. All life ends in death, what comes up must come down, everyone knows and accepts these facts. You have not shown why death is bad, wrong, or cruel. In reality, with the elimination of the possibility of being damned to eternity in hell or limbo, death becomes something akin to a final, deep sleep, slipping into peaceful nothingness. Even if one's death is violent, in the very last moments their bodies will release chemicals so that they will feel no pain in the actual moment of death. Considering that life is such a constant struggle, and the world is so corrupt, I view death as a relief that I will one day welcome.

If I have a child, that child's life will have a point to them as mine does to me. Why is it necessary that it has a point to anybody else?
