I quit smoking tobacco on January 30th - it's been 5 days since my last fix of nicotine. Some may remember that I had quit back at the end of 2012, but it didn't take - I made the mistake of thinking I could have a cigarette or two occasionally. Yeah, right.

I came down with a nasty case of bronchitis while on vacation, and after two very serious respiratory illnesses over the last 2 1/2 years, I finally got it through my thick skull that if I wanted to live for more than a handful more years, I had to do something before it was too late - if indeed is not already so.
Good for you mate. Smoking is a very slow and painful way to commit suicide.

I quit with the help of prayer. Do let us know if you can achieve the same results without, TongueWink.

One could say the same of just breathing. Prayer never helped anyone ... Unless you of course mean self delusion

Quit tobacco and vape your nicotine instead! It's the future; I've tasted it!

Glad to hear it and wish you the very best of luck. I'm told that is one of the toughest things you can do. I need to shed some pounds and find that a very hard row to hoe. Snark away.

Thanks for the support, everyone. After 6 days of cold turkey, I think I'm over the physical addiction. All I'm left with is kicking the habit - those times when I would have a smoke just out of custom more than anything.

Fortunately, I'm still a bit sick so the thought of smoking is absolutely revolting right now.
