What does blocking the lane help? She said he was protecting the ambulance or something, but I'm not sure why he needed to block traffic completely. Unless the lane he was blocking was the one with the wreckage on it.

Did you read the article? The wrecked vehicle was blocking the lane.
I just watched the video. If the truck was just keeping people from driving at the wreckage and people around the wreckage, then I don't know what the cop's problem was.

Because moving traffic along is more important than saving someone's life.
"Hey, that injured passenger in that mangled car can wait! We don't want these people to miss CSI and American Idol! How are they supposed to microwave their TV dinners in a car?!" On a serious note though, the job that attracts the most psychopaths and sociopaths is law enforcement. JUST SAYIN' 
Maybe it's just me, but I always felt in these incidents that victim, rescue worker, and motorist safety takes priority over being able to actually drive on the road.
When rescue personnel arrive and are working around the accident, that section of the road is theirs alone, and it's up to them to give it the all clear for people to resume using it. |
