I am hoping----HOPING----that this at least partly represents poor reading comprehension and not that people actually believe the solar system is not heliocentric. Also, where was this poll done? And who is the sample? Those numbers hurt me in my insides.
Maybe they polled 2,200 third graders in West Virginia?
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

It's the National Science Foundation. They would have been run out of West Virginia by an angry mob of stupid xtians whipped into a jesus-loving frenzy by some crooked preachers.

I feel this study needs to be more accurate. It should be completed in a state by state basis, and correlate it with the religious population/literacy rate.

Maybe 1/4 of the respondents recognized that which orbits which strictly depends on whether the reference frame used is fixed to the earth or the sun.
Maybe?
Nah, they're just ignorant.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?
