I have no doubt they do. I'm an only child, but a few years ago, I was in Philadephia for a distant relative's bar mitzvah, and the night before, as I was dining with my father's uncle (husband to his aunt), the guy was having a heart to heart with a middle aged son of his about financial things, and outright said, with utmost sincerity, that he was his favorite son.

It is what it is. Certain offspring can cause more behavioral issues for the parent. Others may just simply connect with the parent more, say over a shared interest.

I think parents might naturally relate to a certain child better than the other. Doesn't mean the maternal/paternal love is different necessarily, but just the friendship may be stronger.

My mom used to tell me that she didn't have a favorite when I would ask growing up. She also told me that actions speak louder than words too, so I made my own conclusions.

Kids have favorite parents anyways, so it would only be natural for parents to have favorite kids.

I really, really don't have a favorite son or parent. Really.

I don't think I have a favorite parent. I simply knew how to "Work the system". I went to my dad for financial stuff, and my mom for anything to do with dating.

Yes. It's not me. My parents would never admit it.

I have and will ever only have one child so for me, the answer is no.

Unfortunately my mom favors me over my elder sister. I hate it and I have done nothing to deserve it, but yet it's so blatantly obvious that it hurts.. Sad
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I don't have a favorite parent. I think I clash with them both, but over different issues. I'm my own best friend and favorite family member. YMMV, of course.

I don't have any favorites, I love my parents equally. They love me, my older brother, and young sister equally as well.

Wait, how can you be the youngest of your mother's second marriage and eldest of your bio father's fourth? My brain can't figure that out. That's the same marriage, yeah? Whaaat?

Anywhooo.... I don't think any of my siblings have ever had a "who's the favourite" debate. I don't think there ever was a favourite. I'm not sure parents even do that.
