Live band performances

RE: Live band performances
I've been to so many amazing shows, it's hard to pick my favorites, but I'll try Smile

Muse at Mandalay Bay in Vegas a year ago:

Ben Folds Five at the Greek last June:

Metallica at Outside Lands in 2012. The great things about this were a. they're in San Francisco, and they always rock their hometown, and b. They only played two of their newer songs. Kept it almost completely old school. Also, my dad took me to my first show when I was 12- it was The Cult opening for Metallica- so I'm sentimental Smile

The Dead Weather at House of Blues San Diego a couple of years ago (I'm in love with Alison Mosshart):

Phoenix at the pool at the Cosmopolitan in Vegas last October. The great thing about this one is the venue. The pool at the Cosmo is outside on the third floor, and you have about a 240 degree view of the strip. I'm not a huge fan of Young the Giant, but I have tickets to see them at the Cosmo in a month because I love the venue so much:

String Cheese Incident at Rothbury Music Festival (now called the Electric Forest) in Michigan in 2009:

The Hives at House of Blues Anaheim (I was actually at the performance in San Diego, but I didn't like any of the vids from it). As it happens, my friend's band opened for them on several dates:

That's all for now, but I've probably been to a thousand shows over my lifetime.

How did I forget the Black Keys at Indy jam a few years ago? Yikes! This one was right down the street from where I live:

My best live experience is Roger Waters: The Wall. Hands downCool Shades

Saw the show twice in Copenhagen, in 2011 and 2013. It was unbelievable.

One of the better bootlegs out there, notice the nice anti-religious allusions on the wall Wink

I've seen a shit load of bands live. I started going to concerts around 11 years old. The most memorable live shows I've seen were Tool, Elton John, Megadeth, and John Mayer. This August I'm going to see Motley Crue.

I saw my favourite band live in my hometown a couple years ago. Nothing beats the bass these guys put on. NOTHING. There is not one band who does bass like The Prodigy.

My brother's video for context, camera simply can't handle it:

On the other hand it was recorded with a potato. Also my brother is a shit camera man.

For you Black Sabbath fans:

Not a video, but just audio. Some say it was intended for broadcast on the King Biscuit Flower Hour, but details are sketchy. Nonetheless, the concert captured was kick ass. You can use a youtube downloader to extract/save the audio.

Tony Iommi is the reason I started playing guitar.

CD -- I assume you saw BS at the Rose Garden in the later 90s? I was at that show as well. Ozzie was had a scratchy throat but the band played better than ever. And I saw them during the Sabotage tour, so that's saying something.

I wouldn't call Sabbath a goth band at all. They were a stoner/doom band, before there were such terms. Probably because they invented the genre.

Just got my tickets for Arctic Monkeys in August! Thought you'd appreciate that one, Napo. Are you gonna be able to see them during their tour?

I'd need to get a job first. And even then, seeing live bands are quite low on my priority list. I need a car and a place to live before that unfortunately.

I saw so many live shows in the mid to late 70’s and early 80’s I couldn’t possibly remember them all. Some of them like Jethro Tull, Rush and ZZ Top were coming to town practically every year so I saw them multiple times. Other notable shows include BB King, Eagles, Led Zepplin, Guess Who, Doobie Brothers, Alice Cooper, Edgar Winter, ELO, Yes, Aerosmith, Kiss, Kansas, Uriah Heep, Budgie, Bad Company, Judas Priest, AC/DC and Elvis.

A couple of my favorites were the near mythical ZZ Top Texas Tour at the Fairgrounds speedway in Nashville, and tripping at the Tull concert when they were doing the Heavy Horses tour. The latter was just a few days after they recorded the show at Madison Square Garden.

I saw Waters do The Wall in Atlanta. A friend’s wife decided she didn’t want to go at the last minute, and I was more than happy to sit in her $700 seat. We were 4th row center stage about 15 feet from Waters when he was in the middle of the stage.
