What deism has done for the world
#31
RE: What deism has done for the world
I'm pretty sure Paul or Peter said that it would be good if you didn't have sex, or why would anyone want to take a vow of chastity? If you must, do it within marriage. It's also stated that it's better to shoot your sperm in a woman than let it be wasted otherwise.

It's a common belief among christians that masturbation is bad, and there's got to be some reason catholic priests take vows of chastity. You can't just say that the bible doesn't say anything against either.

As far as letting something consume you, I'll agree that it's possible to take pretty much anything too far. Eating and sleeping can be taken to unhealthy levels. It's just that some people belief that any masturbation or sex outside of marriage is wrong, when both can be good for you or your relationship.

I hold this quote up to you as proof that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

Here: Why these "scholarly assumptions" aren't valid, why the timeline is a mess, why we can't be sure what Jesus really taught or confirm any of his supposed bio in the Gospel accounts.

You ignored the entire post.

Here: More problems with your timeline.

Here: Problems with John the Baptist's role in the story.

You ignored both posts.

Here: More reasons I have doubts about Jesus' baptism story in the Gospels.

You ignored that post and restated your question.

You then played the slippery eel and changed the debate subject numerous times. You've shown yourself to be extremely sleazy, even by apologist standards. I'm done with you.

Go regale some Christian forum about your glorious victory after shitting all over the chess board and flying away.

Im still here waiting for you to reply to my posts. I have not flown anywhere.

You are the one running. You are the one who will not tell us what Deism has done in the service of the children of the world's nations.

You won't because you know that when the actions of deists are put on one side of the scale and the actions of those who imitated Christ's selfless self sacrificing life of love are placed on the other, the result lends credibility to my claims and demonstrates the utter bankruptcy of yours.

Genesis 38: 9-10
But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his. So whenever he went in to his brother's wife he would waste the semen on the ground, so as not to give offspring to his brother. 10 And what he did was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and he put him to death also.

Though I guess Yahweh could be angrier about him not giving her children than actually spilling his seed.

There's also this page, which is titled the sin of wasting seed.

You really think that if you continually remind people about the little bit of good that some christians do, that we'll forget about the beast behind the curtain? Christianity is not and has NEVER been a cure-all by any stretch of the imagination. Even the credit your religion gets for helping children is nullified by the fact that there is always an agenda behind it. It's extremely difficult to imprint adults. The malleable mind of a child can be taught to believe anything and therefore, makes them a target for the cult of jesus.

You insult the intelligence of everyone here by glossing over the atrocities of christians by using that tired cop-out, "they weren't TRUE christians." Well, if history has taught us anything it's that Christianity always speaks for itself and that cherry picking the tiny bit of sweet corn out of a turd does not make it any more edible.

Then let us debate the issue. I have asked one already and he refuses.

If you are convinced then let us debate the issue, just you and I.

I don't see what you wrote earlier in any of the scripture you have provided above.

Care to expound on this?

I guess that's all I've got. I'm just not sure how they'd get that part so wrong that they'd site the bible as a defense for abstinence only education, and demand that we not even masturbate and things like that.

And I see you've entirely ignored the part where I pointed out how you changed the nature of the debate and specifically formulated your question to be as one sided as possible, without actually delivering a proper conclusion as to morality, but then, I guess you're just trying to hide that dishonest little flourish. Apparently. Some things have been so repeated in the religious circles I'm in that you'd think there were definite bible passages for it. It's a big part of christian culture nonetheless, though.
