When I was a Christian, I didn't thrust my views onto others, condemning them if they didn't believe as me.

So, enlighten me OP. :-)

How would you phrase that as a debate topic?

What do you mean by "thrust"?

Are you saying all Christians do this "thrusting", or just the ones you personally have known?

Never mind what she just posted; you ignored by my count at least 4 attempts to legitimately get you engaged in debate. You're using stall tactics, which is just a fancy way to be dishonest towards the members of this forum.

discipulus: I don't know you personally, but you passed judgement on those who are having pre marital sex. (Deist thread) Why don't we use that as our debate starting point?

By "thrust" I mean...push your views on others and if they don't believe, you feel they are living life in error.

I am not compelled to respond to every person here. I respond to them whose posts I judge to be worthy of a response. I am engaged in other business outside of this forum and I simply do not have enough time to devote to posting as I would like.

I do not push my views on anyone. If asked about my views, I will usually answer. I have had premarital sex on numerous occasions so if I condemn anyone I must condemn myself first.

If I ask you about your views and you tell me about them I would not be justified in thereby concluding you were thrusting your views on me.

With regards to living in error, God has either shown us the way we should live or He has not. If He has then I live in error if I do not live according to this way. If He has not, then I do not err.

Either Christ's righteoussness is the standard by which we must live or it is not. If it is, and I fail to meet this standard, I am in error, I fail. If it is not, then well....

Nobody cares? I mean if we were to discuss something really hard stuff like the three body problem and the issue of dynamic chaos, but you probably want to talk about your favourite novel, and somewhat call it a 'philosophy'. Bah.

On the other hand you could suggest a topic, since you are inviting. The way you did is just rude (no offense, but also borderline idiotic)...

I offered a topic.

No takers Sad

Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken."

discipulus: You know you judged the other day lol but...I will come back to that. You need to own when you judge. (and not pass it off as you are Jesus' apprentice or some other such silliness)

But...going with your reply to me--the Bible is not credible proof of a god's existence. Why do you treat it as such?

Evolution is true. The Genesis creation account is a myth.

As an ex Christian, I'll answer this. Lol
Most denominations consider it not to be literal. Fundamentalists treat it as literal in some cases. They are usually the ones denying evolution.

You and I probably have a different understanding of the term "judge". Since it can be used in a variety of ways what one implies when using the term is not always clear.

And by the way, I know there are some Christians who do condemn others for committing what they believe to be sins. I have seen this first hand so I do not dispute the assertion that some Christians condemn people. In fact, the Apostle Paul spoke about it and as we would expect, he rebukes those who do.

Nor have I ever used the word "apprentice" in any of my posts here.

With regards to your suggestion on a debate topic, I am happy to say I think we can tweak it a little and come up with a concise sentence for our topic.

Agreed?

Your "come at me bro" made me smile...

When Deidre and I are finished I may just debate you on "Does the theory of evolution by natural selection make the Genesis creation account a myth?"
