Jesus as depicted in the New Testament wasn't a real person. He was an imaginary character created by Paul. Paul's disciples wrote all of the stories about the Jesus character. That's one reason the Jesus character has different personalities.

Well the thread started with everyone criticising the OP for not suggesting a topic.
Now that the OP has decided on a topic, no one will take him up on it.
All everyone can do now is suggest other topics. Something they refused to do in the beginning.
Do I take it that the suggested topic is unbeatable to all potential opponents here on AF? If so, I'd like to congratulate discipulus on his first victory. Very well done sir!

Maybe he will win a dozen more the same way.

Cool. Seems I was mistaken in thinking that people had serious counter arguments!

What was the title? Don't want to trawl the whole thread.

Are you serious? The guy posits an unverifiable question and then seems intent on using the thing that makes the claim to verify the claim, and you take people's disinterest in debating circular logic as some kind of dearth of a counter argument?
The only counter argument you need for the claim that the gospels are true, and therefore Jesus, is "that's stupid."

Found it.
Are the New Testament writings fiction?
I'm happy to do that one with you! Be an interesting exploration.

That is what our debate will be about. Whether or not the gospels are reliable biographies of the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. I affirm they are and you deny.

Yep. Happy with that. Sounds like fun.
Cos I don't think they are.
