I've heard people complain about this and I have to tell them, again, "It's not for you." It's for people who don't even science.

The entire point of Cosmos is not to educate people that are already geeks of science. Just like the original series its intent is to introduce people into how exciting and wonderful science is.

It's going for converts. It's not an advanced class for the already converted.
Everything I needed to know about life I learned on Dagobah.

That said, it's a beautiful and well-produced look at those fundamental concepts.

Presumably the show will delve a little deeper into everything over the course of the 13 episodes. I can't wait. Even though it's nothing new, I just love watching well-produced show paying tribute to science and imagination. I'll take that over The Big Bang Theory or The Simpsons any day of the week.

I agree. I think the show is more about getting people excited about science and interested in learning more rather than educating people who already know quite a bit about science.

I think it'll be more of an overview show, touching on some areas more in depth (like the evolution of the eye) as examples of the broader topic under discussion. I also get the feeling their trying to cover a lot of ground - talking about not only how the sciences affect us here on Earth, but also tying it to the exploration of the universe and what possibilities that field holds for research of other stellar and planetary objects.

And really, I'd probably watch NdT read the phone book.

Really enjoyed episode 3; I didn't know Halley was so involved in getting Newton published, that was interesting.

I enjoyed the animation more, but find it kind of annoying when the animations talk. Maybe I'll get over that, though.

I'm sure the preachers will be screaming about #3.

"He dissed god."

Good!

Enjoyed it.

Halley's "prophecy" beats the shit out of any Christian prophecy in the bible.

That's because Halley's prophecy was based on, you know, reality.

:p
