Medieval/Fantasy RPG's

Medieval/Fantasy RPG's
This post should probably be on some IGN message board or something, but fuck it.

I've been trying to find a good medieval fantasy game for a while now. I have Skyrim. I have mount & blade. I have Dragon Age 1 & 2. I'm bored of all these games. I want a medieval fantasy game where I can do and be what I want, but that has an actual meaningful story/characters. Skyrim doesn't really have the latter, mount & blade is pretty good at allowing you to be what you want yet doesn't have any story or lore whatsoever. DA is pretty good and the storylines are interesting, but I've played the shit out of both of these games and I don't find the DA universe as interesting as others.

I've been looking at the witcher 2, which I would buy. If it were on ps3. But a game like this would be a bit of a pain on my laptop. Other than this, I've not seen any rpg style medieval fantasy games out there. I know there's dark souls, but the world in that isn't the vibrant, believable kind I'm looking for. The game of thrones game is something I had high hopes for, but it's not received great reviews and it's apparently quite far removed from the actual series.

So does anyone have any suggestions? Are there any good medieval fantasy games I'm forgetting? Which one is your favourite?

You could give the Fable series a try. Personally, I prefer the first one, because that's the one where you can socially interact with a group of people instead of going through the slow-ass one-on-one system.

Oh, and whatever you do, don't get caught shoplifting. Cuz you know, video games have the shoplift and die rule.

Lord of the Rings Online? That's got a good story, called the epic quest line. Champion's about the easiest starting class.

Fable has some great reviews, seems a bit cartoonish though. I'll check it out nonetheless.

LOTR online, meh, cba for MMO's. I learnt my lesson after playing the old republic. If a game with that good of a universe can't keep me hooked, I doubt any MMO will.

South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Lol. Maybe not. It's a good game, but you have to know what you're getting into if you decide to play this game. I'm not really sure of any other RPGs besides MMOs. That's pretty much where I get my RPG fix.

It's an old game, but the most indepth character development EVER in a game is in Planescape: Torment. You'll have to get over the 2001 graphics but the game is unmatched in terms of uniqueness and depth of dialog.

There's a game called Kingdom Come that was getting funded - you should see if it's out yet. Lots of Skyrim fans were talking about it.

If you don't mind older games, the Baldur's Gate series is the shit. Just got an HD rerelease too, so it's a better time than any. Just stick through the rough opening. Tongue

I've got Baldur's gate (courtesy of Jaysyn), and I've seen a bit of planescape torment. Alas, games of this vintage don't seem to hold my attention for very long. I just can't get over how old they are. I'll check out that Kingdom Come though Summer Wink
