Actually - the word "scripture" simply means religious writings - and is not exclusive to any particular religion

That the bible is a collection of ancient myths - legends - superstitions - and fairy tales of a bunch of goat herders and cave dwellers and fishermen has already been established OVER and OVER.

In fact - while there are those who rant and rave against evolution - the fact is - evolution has been ACCEPTED by the 10 largest sects of xtianity representing well over 75% of the xtian population. Religion cannot excape having burn't Giordano Bruno at the stake for saying that the earth is NOT the center of the Universe - it actually orbits the sun - etc. THe problem is that today - we find that many things in the bible are not true - period. And everyday - we find that more of them are simply myth.

There is NOT a single document that we have from one of the most documented eras of ancient times - the golden age of rome. WE have documentation of turtle races - but nothing about the christ.

And the religions LIE about this belief as if it were actually true.
Thankfully - religion is dying in the educated western world - and eventually will not be able to support itself. There is a shortage of clergy in virtually every religion - and churches are closing because they have no priests.

The world is heading in the right direction - the direction of truth - not religion

More than 80% of Americans are believers and practice Religion. I don't see how Religion is dying out. And don't jump on me for not citing my sources. Do a little research on your own cuz I can be lazy and not cite everything.

So 77% of americans identify themselves as Christian.

Now there are also people like myself who accept the sacrifice of Christ for my sins, but also seek wisdom and spirituality from Buddhism, Daoism, and hinduism. I also think the Bible is extremely fucked up in places so I'm not Christian according to popular definition of the word.

That 77% doesn't include pagans, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, animists, and new agers in America. So, more than 80% of Americans are Religious. Also, some who do not identify with any Religious sect, entity, or communion, are still Religious/Spiritual. I see it at AA meetings all the time.

I don't think there is significant evidence that America is losing the faith. Americans may be leaving the Religion of their parents or the Religon they initially identified themself as belonging to, but not abandoning Faith in a Higher Spiritual power.
