"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I left the "blow me" part off my name on this forum so people here would not have that excuse to be dicks. I'm interested in seeing if it actually makes a difference in how I get treated.

Could try making quality posts and seeing if that makes a difference.

Does THIS make any sense ? Not a bit.

" For a miracle to actually be a miracle, it has to be an event that goes beyond the usual and ordinary circumstances of nature. That means its going to be rare and by rare I mean maybe happening just once in the history of humanity. If amputees occassionally grow limbs back, then growing limbs back becomes a natural phenomena that happens to occur occasionally.
What's wrong with that definition of miracle? What definition do you use?

... but is this really the image you want to project?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I use the Biblical one. A completely natural event, in which a believer chooses to "see the hand of god operating".

There are NO *events* that are "miraculous". Some observed events have a low probability. Very (extremely) highly (individually) improbable events happen all the time.
You can easily make one with a probability of 1/googleplex happen right now. Go get 55 pairs of dice. Toss them on your desk. You know what the probability of the "miracle" you just caused is ?

Faith is a willing suspension of rationality.
Nothing more.

Can you support that this is the Biblical definition?
