Creation
From the whole creation myth thing they seem to think there was an edge to the sky. If they thought it had edges why didn't think there was an other side to it. Why didn't anyone look for it ?

I don't know if that's the reason, but I'm sure it has been used to stifle all too ambitious inquiries into the nature of the heavens in the european middle ages.

I guess I would have been that one person with an out-stretched hand looking for an edge of sky. Of course had I done such a thing I'd have been hung for a witch.

Yep, possibly Smile
Oddly enough, they never really dared to wait for God to deal out the punishment himself, as he apparently did in the old days. Better set up a pyre just to be sure.

Well curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought it back

RE: Creation
In most religions, curiosity is strongly discouraged. Probably because someone in charge noticed that curious people who went looking for answers left the faith pretty quickly.

Seeking a few clarifications:
Who are the 'they' you are referring to?
Where do you find the concept of 'an edge to the sky'?

Not at all what the towers were for.

If it could be proven beyond doubt that God exists...
and that He is the one spoken of in the Bible...
would you repent of your sins and place your faith in Jesus Christ?

By "they" I mean early Christians and Jews.

And the word firmament is used during creation serveral times

The firmament is the sky, conceived as a solid dome by my logic that means it has an edge and an other side

Genesis Chapter 1 : 6: And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7: And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8: And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
