I can relate to that. Great way of putting it too. Here's mine:

Christian > Confused Christian > Cynical Christian > Angry Christian > Decided atheist > Anti-theist > atheist > conflicted atheist > Christian

Confused then cynical due to the actions of fellow Christians. Atheism was some sweet release for me. I wasn't really anti. That just developed.

w00t! You're just a couple of steps from being an atheist again fr0d0! =D
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Maybe you've done this already, but before you make the leap to atheism, you should also consider the experiences of the many educated and accomplished people who have gone from atheism to christianity. I think C S Lewis was one of your countrymen and he's written extensively about it. Like I said, maybe you've already done this, but it always better to consider all options thoroughly before making a serious move like this. That's one reason I don't spend all my time with christians or on christian websites. You can lose sight of the big picture.

I think what OP means is that there should be a support group for THIS: "I was not an atheist. Now I am."

I have been an atheist all my life.

Not sure if there is enough need for such a group to exist.

However, there are a lot of atheist groups IRL and "I was not an atheist. Now I am." Is frequently a thing in all of them. It is even an acceptable greeting in all of them.

My suggestion to OP: Participate in as many atheism groups as possible IRL.

I think what I'm finding at the moment is the separation. The universe is now divided into two, the dark space behind my eyes and between my ears, and the rest of it. Before, as a Christian, I had a sense that something of the universe, I called it God, existed inside me... And outside me.

I'm now alone inside my own head. It's... Quiet. And odd. And a little lonely.

Who knows Lek, perhaps I may one day tread the same path. I've always tried to be open to new evidence or experience.

Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken."

Have you tried giving David G. McAfee's book 'Mom, Dad, I'm an atheist' a read? It's on Amazon etc.

I wish there were atheist groups near me. I am not about to drive to Baltimore, DC, or Harrisburg for atheist meetings. PSH.

Mine was:

Atheist > Indoctrinated Child > Roman Catholic > Doubtful Roman Catholic > Angry Roman Catholic > Agnostic Ex-Catholic > Agnostic Atheist > Agnostic Christian > Christian > Angry Christian > Agnostic Ex-Christian > Agnostic Atheist > Anti-theist

The vast majority of religious people will start with the first 2.
